At this point they almost have to trade for something they already said no to. After tomorrow whatever they get won't have any future trade viability.

Dwindling options.
I think if they saw any value in trade options, a deal would have been done.  As it were, the rumored package is close to zero trade value in my book.  As difficult as it may be, the rockets are not making that trade.  They would be foolish.

Then they'll likely have to accept swallowing Asik, not getting a stretch PF they need and deal with angry Asik. Lee wouldn't be too bad a fit for them either. Completely disagree with the zero value sentiment. Adding any pick at this point is gravy.

Seems like Danny led with his best offer. If so, like the poker player that he is, he checks and says "beat 'em?, bet 'em".

I'm with Danny.

I am going to speculate and say that Morey must think he is Scott Boras or something and can get DA or someone else to bid against themselves and be fleeced.  The offer of Bass, Lee and a pick is a very good value for Asik in my opinion.  I cannot see any other team beating that.  What does Morey want, Bass, Lee and two picks?  There is just no way.

Everything is just rumor at this point but maybe we can get Phili back in the mix (if they ever were in the mix) and get them to take some salary off our hands in exchange for a pick and still end up with Asik.

I think the only value of the trade is the first round pick.  Lee has negative value due to his contract.  Bass is serviceable but not a starter on a good team.  He is still undersized and a poor rebounder.  And I wouldn't call him a stretch 4.

Just a ridiculous offer if I were Houston.  I would laugh da off the phone frankly.

Atta boy, Danny.

Like Asik, but not for an unprotected 2014 first.

Good luck, Morey. If they were gonna get Milsap, it woulda happened by now.

Yep, very happy that we have him as a GM.

Asik is good, but he's not worth an unprotected 2014 pick in a loaded draft that could potentially be a lottery or a mid round selection.

Would not mind not having Asik at all, if he's going to cost too much.

I would not be surprised at all if Houston and Boston still come to an agreement tomorrow. Is anyone honestly going to offer a package better than Bass, Lee, and a protected 1st for Asik? I really don't see it happening. Meanwhile, Morey can wait it out as close to the trade deadline as he wants, but Asik's value is only going to diminish more and more. Morey might as well take Ainge's offer by tomorrow, because at the very least, he'd turn one trade piece into three which creates more flexibility for a move closer towards the trade deadline.

Maybe Asik is better than Bass or Lee but not by much. The Pick is what this is all about Houston wants it. That pick could be someone more valuable than Asik (who was taken in the second round). So if the one who gets be best player wins the trade, I say it is not a slam dunk by any means. Just a step in the rebuilding process.

A 7 footer who can make a defensive impact like Asik is worth a lot more than Bass and Lee.

Asik could be a DPOY candidate if he gets a starting gig and is able to play 30+ minutes a night.

I would still be willing to give up Green for him

We would be in full tank mode due to lack of scoring, andd still get asik as a defensive anchor . D

Rather have a defensive anchor

Asik isn't a starter on a good team either (as in currently for Houston).  If Houston wants to laugh off this offer than they better get used to having Asik sitting on their bench and pouting.  Bass and Lee would be more valuable to Houston this year than Asik will be or so it seems based on what Asik has done for Houston as compared to what Bass and Lee have done for Boston.

Well after the whole Doc/KG/PP rumor fest last summer, I won't believe that the trade talk is done until Asik is actually traded somewhere other than boston.

I am not heartbroken if we don't get Asik.  But if we are only bidding against ourselves, then I don't know what choice Houston has if they are really serious about their self imposed deadline.

Is Asik going to be a locker room problem moving forward if they don't move him?

If Bulpett is correct and there was no "haggling" over 1st rounders today, doesn't that directly insult Woj's credibility?

I love Bulpett's work but I trust Woj he's always on the money on his trade rumors and signing rumors . Also Stein has been talking about the Celtics being involved in the Asik negotiations and he's pretty reliable too.

Maybe the C's are leaking that the deal's dead, while the Rockets are leaking that there's still haggling.

Woj's source could very well be Houston's GM..it wouldn't insult his credibility because this could be something told directly to him from close Houston circles. It could be for the reason that Steve stated, Houston trying to drum some interest.
