The Rockets could ultimately back out and wait it out until the real deadline. So teams should be at full strength tonight regardless. The deadline is today because players traded today can still be traded this summer, or something like that. It's not arbitrary

That potential BOS/HOU trade is...a little bit of a yawner, maybe? Not sure it moves the needle much for either team.
Would give HOU a bit more versatility/insurance against injury (and a pick, perhaps). Not quite sure why BOS is super-interested.
For me it depends on what the pick is. If it's a 2014 pick, I'm disappointed. If it's the lesser of our 2015 picks, for example, that's a bit better. I think Sullinger would thrive at the power forward position, and with Olynyk also at the 4, there's really no need for bass at all. I understand wanting to clear long-term cap room in getting rid of Lee, but I'd much rather get rid of Bogans if the goal is staying under the tax this year. Assuming we resign Bradley, we're not going to have oodles of cap room next year or in the 2015 offseason (unless Rondo goes, in which case PANIC!!) -- might as well keep Lee around until Wallace's (and maybe green's) contract expire at the same time for the 2016 offseason. Lee has shown himself to be very useful. While he's replaceable, there's a cost in doing so, and there's no reason to pay that cost if you don't have to.
I'm surprised by Zach Lowe's analysis:QuoteThat potential BOS/HOU trade is...a little bit of a yawner, maybe? Not sure it moves the needle much for either team.QuoteWould give HOU a bit more versatility/insurance against injury (and a pick, perhaps). Not quite sure why BOS is super-interested.

Houston is not the Magic or Fakers. Morey and McHale will just tell Howard to shut the #@#% up and play!!!

Would've liked to keep Bass but we have other players we want to develop in that PF position. Asik should make us a slightly tougher out in the playoffs this year and will be an important piece going forward. Asik-Sullinger-Green-Bradley-Rondo is an elite defense, even if we'd struggle like hell to get baskets.

I think they will score enough especially if Sully can stay healthy. I may be overly optimistic about him but I think he can average 18/10 the rest of the way if he stays healthy?
A deal with Boston would reunite Omer Asik with former Bulls assistant coach Ron Adams. They were close in Chicago.
those "points allowed on/off court" stats could just mean Asik's backup was a garbage defender.
