@jennydialcreech : Omer Asik had to leave today to go see a doctor for his knee. Had to walk out regular entrance cause Jay Z is here tonight.
Yeah, have heard very little reports about this but his hamstring and knee reportedly has been bothering him which played a part in him getting shut down. Houston has been real quiet about it thats for sure could be a Bynum situation all over again.

...OR...if he didn't make the plane, that could mean......he's getting traded!!

What was the time-frame of that Tweet?

So, what happened?  Is the deal still in works or is it done?  I don't want to have to go back few pages.

Its off for now, but the actual deadline is surprisingly 'tomorrow,' so who knows if it is posturing or DM seriously being high enough to believe Asik is worth an unprotected draft pick.

Ugh.  Thanks.

If this deal doesnt go through it's a fail for both sides.

That is a bummer. I was starting to believe Houston might actually do an Asik for two bench players and a late first rounder.

I think the Celtics missed their best chance to land Asik. I expect there to be more competition around the trade deadline than there is now.

Do you think the unprotected pick would have got it done and we should have gave them that?

Quote
With the Houston Rockets supposedly ending trade talks regarding disgruntled backup center Omer Asik, Liberty Ballers has learned that one of the rumored names the Sixers were dangling has asked for a trade. Thaddeus Young, having been with the Sixers his entire career, has asked Sam Hinkie for a trade.

Young and his agent, Jim Tanner, submitted a formal trade request to Hinkie and the Sixers weeks ago, according to a source close to Young.

"Thad is ready to leave Philly," the source said. "He isn't with the whole tanking thing." The Sixers are currently last in the Atlantic Division at 7-19.

I have no problem with Sully playing center if our other big is a rim protector like Sanders.

So in backward thinking philly would trade spencer hawes who always seems to play well against us.  Philly is in full tank mode and I read elsewhere on celtics blog that young wants out.   Two. Nice pieces we could add

Crawford, power forward (not named sully) expiring contract draft pick????
What could get that done.?

Why trade for Hawes?

If we're trading assets to get a legit starting center, it should be somebody like Asik -- a guy that can anchor an elite defense.

Hawes is too similar to Sullinger or Olynyk offensively, and he's a break-even defensive player.

All these Asik trade talk has been exhausting.  Got my hopes up for nothing.
