  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
For all the people saying the picks will be bad- I think with Rondo still recovering the Kings will still stink and we'd easily get a top 6-10 pick from these guys.

They'll have a tough time getting Rudy +Williams and Cousins working well together and they'll lose Isiah whilst not having Vasquez- it will be a sh*t storm there for 30 games while they work it out.

Even if they owe their protected pick to someone else (the Cavs?) then they can still draft a player for us if it doesn't fall out of the top 12.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Exactly. They currently have the 2nd worst record in the WC. Rondo would still have to get into shape and there is that chemistry issue that people ignoring. It's going to take a while. They just added Gay and Williams, now you throw a 3rd new starter into the mix.

I would love to have the option of swapping picks (since Sacramento can't trade the pick outright now) with our Brooklyn/Atlanta pick. Brooklyn is playing much better (winners of 4 of their last 5), so I expect our B/A pick to be in the late teens.

They can dream on.

If Celtics get a big man to go with Rondo. .....Rondo not going anywhere.

Kings can get Austin Rivers garbage  to play on their team.

Chad Ford forgot to specify they want a pass-first point guard who plays defense.

deal still stinks.

Rondo is the best player in the deal by far.
-IT - short PG that is not the passer/facilitator Rondo is and will be looking for a pay bump this offseason.
- Thornton - mediocre SG
- Mclemore - hasn't shown anything special yet.  wouldn't crack our current SG rotation.
- Thompson - longer deal than Wallace.  he's big but hasn't turned into much of a player despite the size
- 2 picks that will be out of the lottery since that roster will be a playoff team for several years.

horrible deal.

Rondo's a top 10 PG

Well, more like a top 5 PG in an era of some really great PGs.

And the thing to remember about Rondo is he's spent his entire career playing in a straight jacket with Doc's walk-it-up, grind-it-out offense that was entirely designed to get shots for KG and Pierce.  This is the first time in his career when Rondo's really going to be able to run a team like CP3 and other top point guards do.

Mike

I'll take Paul, Williams, Irving, Curry, Westbrook, Lillard, and Parker over him right now. With Wall, Holiday, Rubio, all rising. You have Rondo ahead of 3 of the first group of names I mentioned? Really?

I'd take Paul and maybe Parker over Rondo in that group. Rondo would easily compete with any of the rest of the PG's on that list in the playoffs

Historically, the Team that gets the BEST player in a trade, wins out...so, No to this deal. You don't trade your All-Star player for multiple mediocre players...Unless your All-Star wants out.
Mmmm... Carmelo?  Dwight? ... Brooklyn? haha

The Lakers clearly won the Dwight Howard trade. I doubt any GM in the league would rather have what the Lakers gave up than a superstar in his 20s. Orlando became worse in the short term and in the long term by making that trade. How much consolation is it to their management and fans , watching the team stumble around in the lottery instead of having a good shot at going to the conference finals, to know that the Lakers couldn't re-sign Dwight?

I'd rather have a better team with better short-term and long-term prospects than "win" a trade that weakens my team.
