So here is the proposed scenario. The Boston Celtics trade an Avery Bradley centered package for Asik.  Houston has put him on the trading block.

Then they trade various pieces for Stoudemire and Shumpert.  Stoudemire is useless for the Knicks and Shumpert is admittedly on the way out.

So the Celtics end up with Asik, a starting 5, they move Bradley who wants more money than the 4/24 offer they gave him, and they acquire Shumpert, a defensive SG with better height and wingspan than Bradley to replace him.

The Celtics might even make it a multi-team trade if necessary to pull off the trade.

New Celtics lineup:
1. Rondo
2. Shumpert
3. Green
4. Sullinger
5. Asik

That's a decent/solid starting 5.  No stars in there, but no glaring weaknesses either.  We look to the draft and hope we pull a diamond from the rough the way we did with Jefferson, Sullinger, etc.

No thanks.  Amare's got a huge contract for the following year that would be a headache to match up with and not take back more bad contracts in a trade.  Shumpert is not having a particularly good year so I'm not gung-ho to get him.

Asik is ok but I don't see him as a building block or a player you trade for when you're multiple players away from contending.

if we could trade bass lee and wallace im sure danny does that trade for amare but not sure the knicks would also give up shumpert. amare has an option at the end of this year and who knows he  might walk but its one less year we have those contracts

Interesting deal, and great idea overall.

I think adding Asik, Shumpert and Stoudemire is possible but I wouldn't want to give up AB to do it. Houston doesn't need a two guard and AB has shown he can't play the point so I don't see the fit there. The Rockets are rumored to be searching for multiple firsts and/or a power forward to play next to Howard. I think Bass and Crawford is a decent offer for Asik (with this self imposed deadline we might be able to get him for less than people thought)

If the Knicks are desperate to get rid of Amare we could do a Gerald Wallace, Courtney Lee, Kris Humphries and protected pick for Amare and Shump.

New Rotation

1. Rondo/Pressey
2. Bradley/Shumpert
3. Green/Brooks
4. Sully/Amare
5. Asik/KO/Faverani

To me that is a top 5 defensive team with those additions. We would also have multiple first in three out of the next four years to add to our talent base.

Amare's contract is only 50% guaranteed next year, btw.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

The Rockets appear to want a lot for Asik. I think it would take a 1st rd pick, along with Bradley, to get them bite. I obviously wouldn't do that deal, but they are definitely not selling him low.

The Houston Rockets continue to plan on trading Omer Asik by Dec. 19, so they can possibly package any acquired players in a deal before the NBA's Feb. 20 deadline.

Many insiders believe that the Rockets' top target remains Paul Millsap of the Atlanta Hawks.

The Hawks signed Millsap to a two-year, $19 million deal in the offseason, which is considered one of the NBA's best bargains.

Why do people want Shumpert? He is a lesser Avery Bradley. Overrated!

More athletic, better ball handler, longer. Bradley is more disciplined and a better shooter. I think you could easily play the two of them together.

Trading any sort of assets in order to "fix the lineup" by acquiring role players like Shumpert and Asik makes very little sense this year.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.
