...  and yet, no one wants to give up one iota of value for Omar Asik, an excellent defensive player with legitimate size, shotblocking ability, and who can control the glass (*especially* if you paired him with Sully).

For all we know, it's not one iota of value, heck Morley probably wants the sun and the moon for Asik. Why should he sell him cheap? I'd surely trade Hump or Bass and a 1st for Asik, but would Houston take the deal?

I thought so, too...last year...but IA hasn't progressed this year. If anything, he's regressed. Well, if we can't get Embiid or WSC, maybe IA would be a third option in the draft.

sadly it's just a fading position. it's easy to find a 7 footer but one with talent or one that doesn't want to stay out on the 3 pt line is another thing.

First of all, the problem is not whether or not our center will shoot threes or not. The issue that became painfully evident yesterday was that we have no-one to guard players like Brook Lopez.

Second, there are plenty of centers that don't shoot threes around the league today: Howard, Noah, Chandler, Marc, Lopez, Jordan, Pekovic, and Vucevic, just to name the ones that come to mind first.

Yeah, if we got a Center that can make 3's, then great let him sit on the 3 point line while Sully digs down deep in the paint! That's on offense, but what the C's need is somebody that can defend all those guys you just listed in the quote. I think we agree on this.
