It's not illegal to dream right...

As I saw some of the Florida game, despite the loss, he looks like an NBA player.

Runs well, defends the paint and for a kid that is supposedly raw, his post moves are really solid.

Love the bigs we have, especially Sullinger, but if we are going to be in a position to move for Embiid, I would trade any of them in a heartbeat. This kid is the real deal.
This right here. Scouts saying he's the closing thing they've seen to Olajuwon in 25 years.  Not often a guy like this comes thru.

Make it happen Danny, use those picks.

I'm dreaming too!  I have a feeling he's going to be picked number 2.  After Parker and before Wiggins.

I'd be happy with Cauley Stein as our first round pick.

CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

...  and yet, no one wants to give up one iota of value for Omar Asik, an excellent defensive player with legitimate size, shotblocking ability, and who can control the glass (*especially* if you paired him with Sully).
Maybe after seeing last night's effort, Danny is on the phone with Morey or whatever his name is.

Well, last night certainly exposed that need.  Lopez had a field day.

Its going to be a severe limitation on this team to do any serious damage in regards to league play.

I'm not sure if you try & address it by trade or draft, though.  Not sure if I'd go out right now and address it via trade while burning through some of our assets unless its a blue chip guy (which won't happen).  I'm leaning towards addressing it via the draft or in the offseason.  In the meantime?  Patchwork as best as you can.

sadly it's just a fading position. it's easy to find a 7 footer but one with talent or one that doesn't want to stay out on the 3 pt line is another thing.
First of all, the problem is not whether or not our center will shoot threes or not. The issue that became painfully evident yesterday was that we have no-one to guard players like Brook Lopez.
I never said defending lopez wasn't a problem. or that our centers shooting 3's was the reason we lost yesterday.

in general I just don't like big men shooting 3's.

Sure, but that's a different issue. Personally, I just like role players to have one go-to offensive skill.

Me too.

And If the center position faded it was because there weren't any for a while.  They're on the rise again.  Look at Hibbert's role against the Heat and all the centers mentioned by Kozlodoev, along with  Embiid and next year's draft. Doesn't mean you have to have one, but they're showing their value again.

Jon Henson keeps putting up lines like tonight, Larry Sanders becomes expendable baby!!!!!  Get Sanders Danny!!

http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=400489189

Henson is a clone of Sanders with MORE scoring ability and Henson will cost 1.99 million compared to Larry's 11 million.

Sanders is what we need baby!!!

Smitty77

Yup, a guy like Sanders would be sweet!! But, I don't see Milwaukee giving him up, especially if they can put together a potent 1-2 frontcourt between him and Henson.

They also have Ekpe Udoh who is a very similar player as well!!

http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/4261/ekpe-udoh

Smitty77

Hmm..in that case I wonder what it would take to bring the Larry Sanders show to Boston?

You do pretty much have to have one if you are serious about contending.  Not that they have to be behemoths like Lopez, but legit size/length is a must.

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari

No, he's not.
Maybe in the literal sense that his body is a little doughy, but the guy is as tough as they come mixing it up in the paint and grabbing rebounds.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Well, myself and many other believe that's the way Danny Ainge constructed it. Helps us get a better pick down the road.
Unfortunately Jordan Crawford is keeping us above 40% in the wins column.
My belief is that a legitimate center was left off the roster to develop Sully and Olynyk whilst showcasing Bass, Humphries and Faverani to develop their trade value- and subsequently give us a better shot at a few less wins.
Colton Iverson was even stashed overseas.

Danny didn't anticipate the East being this terrible and our lack of size hasn't been exploited like it normally would- until we get to teams like Brooklyn and most teams with 2 quality 7 footer starting bigs.

Long season but I don't think Danny has any plans to make us better at the middle unless it's a star level guy- or we get our hands on another star at the wing.

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Yes, very badly!! It would help Sully big time
What the C's need is a very long, athletic, rim-protector with good defense and a little offense (either inside or outside would be fine). You can call him a Center or a Power Forward and Sully will be the one you don't call him.

Tyson Chandler would be nice as would Asik, Noah, Hawes, Cousins, Sanders, Gasol, Lopez, Noel, Drummond or Davis. Problem is I don't see the C's getting any of them.

Embiid and Cauley-Stein are the only two I see in the coming draft. Maybe WCS will be available where the C's pick.

Otherwise, anybody have any ideas on who the C's could get? Not a pipe dream, but a few youngish targets to lust after?
