Not sure how many people here watch college hoops regualrly but with the Big 12, SEC and ACC Networks down here in Florida, I watch a ton. I'm watching Wiggins 4th game tonight and so far this year I haven't been impressed like this is the next Lebron.

He disappears for long stretches, has some very questionable decision making, brings it when he wants on defense, and is just not mentally tough offensively. He reminds me a bunch of Jeff Green in his inconsistency and lack of aggression.

That said, I think some are starting to have doubts about the brain and heart of this guy, not his actual talent or physical athleticism. He drifts and disappears. Its been what he has shown all year.

That said, Randle, Parker and Smart are lighting it up, Wiggins own team mates Embiid is looking like a top 5 pick based on big man potential and Dante Exum is said to maybe be the best of the bunch. Aaron Gordon out at Arizona is showing some major talent and desire to hustle.

Could it be that with all the hype, much like Shabazz Mohammad, that Wiggins just won't live up to it all and fall far from the top pick? I don't think a top 5 selection for Wiggins is any guarantee anymore as more and more film becomes available on him.

No way he falls out of the Top 5...too much potential.

Agreed on your commentary regarding Wiggins though. That's why I have been a supporter of taking Parker over Wiggins since before the season. I like his present skills over Wiggins' future projection...

Spot on, but I agree with McHP no way he falls out just because of his potential unless people find out he is an year older than what he was said to be.

There's no way he falls out of the top five that I can see.

I do think the "next Lebron" stuff is over-stated, though.  The passivity that you mention is hat gets me about his play.  I feel that he's more like the "next Rudy Gay": he's got all of the tools, but there's just something missing there, leading him to fade into the background.

Top 5: Yes if only for potential

No way. Lowest he'll go is 2nd, but I highly doubt he'll fall out of the top spot. The few flashes he has shown will be enough for him to hold onto that top spot.

I think system plays a part in it... also, College stats are lower than NBA stats since they play less minutes.  He's putting up elite numbers for a freshman.  Have any experts even suggested he'll fall out of #1?

Barring a serious injury or a felony-level arrest, no.

I think the lowest he could fall would be 4th.  For that to happen, Parker has to keep being Parker, Joel Embiid has to have some monster games and a great pre-draft, and Dante Exum has to find a way out of the shadows so that teams become fearful of missing out on another Magic Johnson type player.  I don't see any way that Randle or Marcus Smart will be drafted ahead of Wiggins.  Randle only if he were an inch or two taller.

So for me 4's the basement.

and even with the second one....

I have doubts about Canadian Basketball after watching Bennett in CLE and Wiggins at Kansas.   I know we got Oly and all and Nash was great but I can help thinking a lot of these guys are really a lot of hype.   We had some transfer to KY for high school basketball and their are some skilled ones but they all have serious flaws.   Some of these kids said they were highly rated in CLE and my thinking was hmmm they must not have a lot of good players.

There was a Munice kid who held Wiggins to five points in high school.

I think he's far from another Lebron.  At age 17/18, the thing that amazed me about Lebron was his bball iq and his "court vision"  (remember those commercials?).

Right now, Wiggins seems like a fairly 1 dimensional player.  He reminds me of some mix of a more athletic Jeff Green/poor man's Kevin Durant.  That Rudy Gay comment seems pretty good, but there's just something about him that doesn't compare to Rudy Gay for me.  Can't figure out why exactly

Big half....he sucked in the first half. Just drifted around and did nothing. Very Jeff Green like.

I'm with you Nick about him being way over hyped. But know way out of the top five. He's Jeff Green on steroids. Just way to nice and passive to be the number one guy in this class. I think It's unfair to Wiggins he doesn't want this hype. I hope Stern and his minions send  him to a small market.
