Anyone think this team would actually be better than what we have now.
Monroe
Sully
Wallace
Bradley
Crawford
Probably not.
Agreed , waste of time......
And why is that?
I think the obvious concern would be the huge drop off you'd get at the SF position.
That probably outweighs any gain you get at the C.
Upgrading the wing wouldn't be super hard. A Gallinari / Deng type scorer could give you the proper balance.
But Crawford is a sixth man, so you'd need a legitimate starting point guard.
I'd rather have an Afflalo type than Bradley at SG -- I like my wings to have more prototypical size.
If we could somehow get Monroe without giving up Rondo or Sullinger, that's a group you could build a fairly competitive -- though not super elite -- team around.
This is the sort of non-tanking plan that makes some sense. Exchange the thrill of going for a high lottery pick for the comparable security of acquiring a young player with good size on track to become a second tier star who you can probably extend for reasonable money.
The possible highs -- building a perennial contender around a superstar -- are lowered, but the floor is higher, and you can get back to being competitive much sooner.
All of that said, it doesn't make sense going that route if you have to give up Rondo to do it.
