Nets fans are freaking out and regretting the trade

Eh, I don't know if I agree.  If the Nets are healthy and if they're properly coached, I think they're the third best team in the East.  No team in the league is unbeatable, so Brooklyn has a puncher's chance.

I think the Nets will have a shot in the first round as long as they avoid the bottom two seeds.

Anything beyond the first round is entirely academic in this Eastern Conference, however, barring major injuries to Miami or Indiana.

  If everyone's healthy and they can keep the pace down I could see the Nets giving the Pacers or Heat trouble in the playoffs. It's kind of like the '87 finals, where even though the Celts had numerous injuries they could handle the Lakers in a half court game but they had to be careful every game or they could easily get run out of the gym.

Again, the key difference (aside from talent -- Bird was still a great player) is that the '87 Celtics had a core that had played together for a long, long time.  They knew how to win.  This Nets team is still figuring out how to win regular season games together, and the playoffs are a different animal entirely.

  I said kind of like, not exactly like. The playoffs are a different animal, that might help the Nets the same way it's helped the Celts since 2010. And under your scenario, they'd get through a round of the playoffs before they met the Heat/Pacers which would help as well.

They both look like players that are pretending to still care about the game. I can't see both players games falling off a cliff in one offseason, regardless of their ages. They were both impact players last year and now they look awful.

I could see moving Pierce into a reserve role really helping out both him and the team. I think KG and Lopez can work well together, so I'd give that more of a chance first.

Kidd seems terrible and they have to give him some more time to figure it out but I think you give him 40 games to right the ship and that's it. They need to rattle off 5+ in a row sometime soon to boost not only their own morale but the fans as well.

I would have never thought Celtics games would be infinitely more enjoyable to watch this season than Nets games, but the Celtics and Stevens are clearly trying and it looks like they are having fun.

I disagree.  If you look at some past greats their games fell off a cliff in a hurry.  I don't think it has anything to do with not caring.

Shumpert flat out embarrassed Pierce last post season. He practically stole the ball from him whenever he wanted. It was sad to see. I kind of knew then, that Pierce was just about done. His play this season confirms it. He is missing shots, he can't create separation from the defender for easy looks like he used to, he is turning the ball over at critical times, etc. As soon as Kirilenko returns, Pierce has to come off the bench. I kind of agree that i would take a wait and see approach to the Garnett+Lopez trio.

I was never a fan of Deron Williams with the nets. Diva attitude;

I saw a lot of their TV games this season, and it seems that their is no fluidity in their offense or defense. Purely iso heavy, and defense has no effort;

KG and PP cannot fix the nets broken down team as it is presentlly created; Unless they ship out Deron Williams first;

exactly that roster is poorly put together pierce and kg are not role players and will never play like that they need the ball to be effective. dont expect them to play defense or rebound at a high level that just wont happen anymore

problems with the nets:

1. they are unathletic overall; when KG, PP< and lopez are on the floor together they are the slowest team in the league. JJ and d-will aren't as quick as they used to be either.

2. D-Will is and always has been massively overrated. he also has a toxic attitude and is often injured/out of shape.

3. lopez is highly talented, but is ultimately not as tough a player as he needs to be

4. a rookie head coach who is in way over his head

5. one of the worst GMs in the league who has loaded this team with near-untradeable contracts while dealing away almost every draft pick. even the picks the nets do own are all swappable with other teams, like the one with the hawks this year. just awful. in the 2015/2016 they will be paying JJ/DW/BL over $60M combined

KG is leading the team in rebounding at 7.9 per - in under 23 min per.

Paul is 3rd leading scorer on the team, and isn't even shooting the ball well - yet.

KG is 2nd leading shot-blocker so far.

Let Deron and the rest of the team get healthy and BKN should go far.
