Looks like Brooklyn might be tanking!!

Tanking for 2015??  ;D
AFAIK they only have 1st round picks on 2015, 2017 and 2019

they have 2 first round picks in 2014, Atlanta's and their own, we get only the worse of the 2

New Jersey only has one pick (their own).  Atlanta has the option to switch picks with them (Joe Johnson trade).

1) They technically have no picks, because we have the lesser of Atlanta and the Nets, and Atlanta has the better one.
2) it's Brooklyn, not Jersey.

Brooklyn could be in trouble, but it is still early.

From the few games of theirs I've seen, KG looks unable to play PF.  Being next to Lopez is an issue, neither are really quick enough to defend the quicker, more athletic, PF's.

Pierce has looked reasonable at times, others not so much.  He's coasting, book it.

Deron Williams is an enigma.  He hould be much better than he is, as when he is healthy he appears to still have most all of his abilities.  It just seems Deron has really struggled to run the point with other players who need their touches.  He gets lost in the offense when he doesn't have the ball.  A lesser, dead-eye 3pt shooter, and solid defensive PG, would be better for the team I suspect.  I bet a healthy Rondo would improve this team greatly too (thankfully this will never happen).

Johnson is their best player, and most consistent.  Lopez is playing well for the most part too, but he still is slow and as I said above, not a great fit next to KG (and most of the other front court players).  Kirilenko needs to be healthy and playing well, as he could really be key for this team.  KG needs to be he backup C (sad but true).

I still think that the Nets will get it together.  They've got a lot of knuckleheads on their roster, but I believe in Pierce and KG.  Their current shooting percentages are a fluke.
What worries me is that even when Williams or Lopez have been on the court the team's overall issues have been the same.

I mean broadly they've had their best two players miss a ton of time, being bad is understandable. But the games are ugly for them.

Pierce's shooting doesn't worry me so much. He's mostly just off on his 3s. His TS% isn't a disaster because he's getting to the line still and his FT% has bounced back this year. KG now he worries me.

Yes, PP doesn't worry me so much, but from what I've read over on their blog the defense is WORSE with KG on the floor. That's totally unheard of when he was a here. I even read that he wasn't on the floor for some of the last minutes of a game because of that...that's mind blowing.

One other thing, the NY media is KILLING KG and PP in the papers and blogs. They don't get that hedge of protection that they would sometimes get from Boston. Every other article is about them being old, washed up, useless..etc. They were really ripped when they didn't speak the the media after one of their losses.

and here comes the conspiracy theory that KG is a spy planted on the Nets by Danny :D

but jokes aside, anyone factor in KG's leg's just aren't the same anymore? He does have a lot of mileage on that body. Maybe he should be retiring soon. Or it could also be that the team isn't responding to KG's leadership on the floor like the Celtics did

It's mindlessly easy to zero in on PP & KG as the 'problem' on the Nets, because of their high-profile arrival.

But really, that team currently has way more problems than those two.

Lopez has only played 8 games.

Williams has only played 9 games (and looked awful when was playing).

Kirilenko, expected to be a key defensive contributor and match-up sub for both Pierce and KG, has played just 53 total minutes.

Pierce was supposed to be playing just 24 mpg or so, but is averaging 29.8 due to the roster.  His production was actually pretty decent to start the season (despite sub-par 3PT shooting) but I think the wear is starting to get to him as his points-per-36 has slipped to just under 16.  Not bad, but definitely down a notch.   He's still rebounding well at 6.3 rebound per 36 and an 18.4% DRB%.   But, because of the poor shooting around him, his AST rates are down.   I think, though, that once Pierce gets his 3PT stroke back, his overall numbers will start to look fine.

KG just looks totally 'off' with his jump shot.  His overall stroke looks good, but he's flat on most of his shots.   Without his jumper, his offense has clearly and obviously just dropped on the floor.   And with Lopez out, he's forced to play C a lot more - which is actually when the team's defense has really tanked from bad to horrible.

With KG & Lopez both on the floor, the opponents have scored just 99.8 points per 100 possessions.

With KG on, & Lopez off the floor the opponents have scored 113.2 points per 100 possessions.

I think that may say more about the other guys playing PF next to KG in those situations.

The thing is, all these things, as bad as they seem, are all potentially just temporal.

Guys go through cold shooting streaks and then get it back.   Williams & Lopez should eventually get healthy.  And Williams has shown himself able to start the season playing crappy and then get his act together.

There is no guarantee the Nets WILL straighten out that ship.  But I think it's still way too early to assume they won't.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

The really sad part for Brooklyn is that they now have Donny Marshall. They must be going nuts.

I was never a fan of Deron Williams with the nets. Diva attitude;

I saw a lot of their TV games this season, and it seems that their is no fluidity in their offense or defense. Purely iso heavy, and defense has no effort;

KG and PP cannot fix the nets broken down team as it is presentlly created; Unless they ship out Deron Williams first;
Peavey Bass Player - relearning to play after 10 years sucks;
