Chris Paul has proven to be a top 3 player; at worst, he's a top 5 player.  I don't see how he doesn't fit the definition of "dominant."

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
I don't know if he destroyed the Clippers. One poster already posted Blake and DeAndre's stat line and it was pretty solid. He did have a tremendous game though, so credit for that.

We have to prepare for that kind of game again Friday. He may be able to go around us easier.

He did help me destroy my opponent for this week on Fantasy, I can tell you that.

At the very least, Vucevic was really entertaining.  I think the Magic are going to make the 8 seed, I really do.

The best part about all of this is that, while they might excel come play off time, the 2015 Clippers and the 2014 2016 2018 Nets will probably be much worse regular season teams than we were projecting at the end of last year.  It sucks we have to wait out a year but this next decade is going to be a fun time to be a Celtics fan.

Griffin and Jordan are terrible defenders. Not good. Not average. Terrible.

That isn't Doc's fault. That is why good bigs can shred this Clipper team. And that is why the Clippers are not going to the finals.
Doc thinks Jordan should be the Clippers' Garnett, so...

Haha. If Doc wasn't an NBA player or coach, he'd make a good used car salesman.

I like Doc Rivers. And I am grateful for the 2008 title. But yeah.... Jordan as a defensive player of the year? ....that is a bit much.

Clippers, the most overrated team in the league 3 years running. Has nothing to do with Doc. Just overrated hyped players who jst aren't dominant

Throw CP3 in any team ,  like even the current Celtics and we would be like 4 and 1 .......he just  seems to have the knack of getting everybody playing well .

Without CP3 the  Doc doesn't do alot for that team any other , decent coach couldn't.   Without CP3 , Doc Shivers would have never went there , he'd ran for cover behind a mic .

Yup. Paul is a legit top 5 player in the NBA.

I'm sure CP3 would have made Stevens look like a genius. From day one. ....

No doubt. Paul is a coach on the floor. It kind of makes me wonder how much control Doc will really have. Maybe Doc can just focus on defensive schemes, and plays out of timeouts.  :)

This is how I feel about Doc, I appreciate his work with Ray Allen , and Rondo and blending the team egos.   I appreciate all that.   But, in a rebuilding situation,  he is not the man.....and I like what I'm seeing  with Stevens approach so far.......

I just loath smallball.         Lol   ;D

CP3 dissed the Celtics with KG and Doc ........I think CP3 just wants somebody to stay out of the way while he runs the team.

I remember the parts of the season CP3 was out injured , the Clippers were so bad .  Their bigs just looked awful with out CP3 . ....

iI just think, the Clippers , in order to win win Rivers as their coach , is still needing another 1 or 2 prime time players better than Griffin even.    Like Phil Jackson,  he needs so much talent on his bench , he can't lose .....

If CP3 doesn't win a title this year or next ......he ll want out of that situation and head for the Heat  or a better situation with more stars and Doc will quit.

Here is THE issue with Doc and the Clips.

Through 5 games so far, only 7 Clippers have played in all 5 games and only 7 Clippers are averaging more than 15 minutes a game.  Last season, 11 Clippers averaged 15 or more minutes a game.

This team is trying to win in a completely different way under Doc and I don't know if they're good enough to do it.

Mike
9 players are playing 13 MPG though and DeAndre Jordan is now playing 12 minutes more per game. He's going with a tighter rotation because of the roster more than anything.

No Odom to be a reliable backup PF/C and no Bledsoe.

It may be the roster but that doesn't change the point.  Did Jordan really improve so much over the summer that he should be playing 12 more minutes a game?  Are the additions they made good enough to offset the greater depth they lost?

Last year's Clippers had, over an 82 game schedule, 13 players average at lest 10 minutes a game.  And whenever I saw them, it seemed like their bench was always a major factor in winning games.  For whatever reason, they're clearly not winning games that way again.  The 4 main bench guys last night had +/- of -9, -9, -18 and I think -5.

The point is that they were an elite team last year and are having to play and try to win in a substantially different way this year.

Mike

Remember when Doc was our coach, and we always got murdered in the paint with pseudo "all-stars" big men like Pekovic, Greg Smith (houston), Byron Mullens when he was with the Bobcats.
Mullens doesn't play in the paint, and Pekovic is pretty good.

Mullens destroyed us though, I remember one game, Tommy was like who is this guy.

Byron Mullens had 25 points and 18 rebounds, and the Charlotte Bobcats rallied from a four-point deficit in the final two minutes to beat the Boston Celtics 94-91

here's the highlight ;)

It would be an absolute disaster for the Magic to make the 8th seed this season, so they'll certainly do whatever's necessary to ensure that doesn't happen.

I can just see the Sixers and Magic being endorsed to go full Nate Robinson/Ricky Davis in order to miss the playoffs.

Look at this, though:

1.) Indiana
2.) Philly
3.) Miami
4.) Charlotte
5.) Orlando
6.) Atlanta
7.) Detroit
8.) Milwaukee

-

9.) BKLN
10.) Toronto
11.) Cleveland
12.) Chitown
13.) NYK
14.) Washington
15.) Us

This is so amazing.  So Chicago is almost certainly going to bump out one of those current "playoff" teams, right?  And the worst team so far of the top 8 is Atlanta.  Then, Cleveland, Washington and the Knicks could all rally.

If Atlanta and Brooklyn both miss the playoffs, we are getting two lottery picks.  I know I am getting WAAAAAY ahead of myself, but I'm already trying to look up rules on things like: if Brooklyn has a worse record than the Hawks, but their lottery pick ends up better than the Hawks' pick, do they still switch or do they just get the pick with the better odds before the drawing?  Ha, seems unlikely but still, a man can dream....

Doc's probably gotten Paul off to the best start he's had in years.

I believe that the Hawks get the choice of pick after the draft order is set.
