Question: If Rondo made these same statements would we be calling him a great team mate or a cancer?

rondo would never do this in the first place. he would tell the "selfish" player in his face in the locker room.

go ask ray allen why he was so mad at rondo, rondo probably grilled him during ray allens slumps

That's a boldly unverifiable statement.

I don't know about all that stuff w/ Ray Allen, but we do know he'd get in their face or ear and tell them.

And the only way we know that?

Because someone's told the media.

I don't really think it's a big secret..I prefer that method instead of talking to the media 1st. We can say what we have to say, cuss it out or hug it out, and move on.

Maybe. I think that assumes a level of intimacy with how the C's locker room works that I don't know we should be making.

#Celtics F Gerald Wallace said game should have been won easily, with starters sitting in 4th, instead guys started trying to pad stats.

This makes me think that the guys Wallace has an issue with are probably bench guys who entered the game in the third quarter.

I didn't watch the game.  Was there a clear lack of effort on defense by those players?

I really can't pinpoint it because they ALL made mistakes. Too much pounding of the ball and movement stopped. Plus a lot of foul calls that were iffy (which we should expect).

This this what Wallace does. He's a professional malcontent. Every place he's been, he calls out teammates. Take a look at this story from last December...

http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2012/12/27/nets-forward-gerald-wallace-calls-out-team-after-brooklyns-latest-defeat/

Or this one from January of this year...

Or this one from 2011 when he played for Charlotte...

People make mistakes, even players who are playing hard.  I'm just curious if anyone looked like they were clearly more interested on offense than on defense.

If he was a malcontent, we wouldn't be having this discussion; he wouldn't care win or lose as he'd still be paid.

On the contrary, I think he's a guy who busts his butt on court and takes it personally when his teammates don't do the same. Can't say I blame him. If I'm at work everyday busting my tail and cranking out reports while my co-worker sits across from me playing solitaire on her computer, there'd be issues.

Let me see if I understand...in Wallace's mind, making free throws = being selfish and padding your own stats.  That explains a lot!

Sorry, but I just couldn't resist that one.

I like it that a vet is stepping up and voicing some leadership, but I think it's a little too much, too soon.  Calling the team out twice by Game 2 of the season has the potential for backlash / tuning out the message.
