It's an understandable move for Washington. With Okafor uncertain even to play this season, they might not have made the playoffs because their good finish last season wasn't just due Wall returning and making his teammates better and so on, it was also due to the stout defensive pairing of Okafor and Nene. They're not so good that they can make up for a major weakness like having to spread out minutes between Vesely, Seraphin, Booker and possibly Singleton. As bad as they've been, I suppose it's fine to upgrade enough just to get to the playoffs. It still reeks of a GM trying to save his job.
At least the Wizards are stocked with more young talent than the last time Grunsfeld tried this kind of move when he traded the fifth pick in the draft for what ended up being one year of Mike Miller.
I've been loving the moves of McDonaugh. He got Bledsoe for Dudley and a few second round picks and now he's gotten a possible mid-round pick in a possibly great draft for a player with an expiring deal. Dang.
