I'd rather see him go to Maine and if we are going to give anyone some extra PT, make it Brooks so somehow he might be able to salvage some trade value.

I like this idea IF Brooks shows enough to be a trade asset, as opposed to a liability (which I think he is now).

I can't remember the rules, can other teams poach Babb if we send him to Maine?

Good for Chris!  Maybe Avery's slower than expected return will open some minutes for him.  But either way with Sully, KO, Fav, and AB out we need live bodies.

Babb and Johnson can battle it out for their lives for a spot next year. Johnson hasn't been as good shooting the three these days. He tries hard but you also have to produce

Johnson can hit the open three but takes a little while to execute the catch and shoot. Babb has a very quick release. I still remember that game against the Knicks in pre season where he curled to the top of the three pt line and in one motion launched a three into the basket. Clutch situation also. Seeing he has been doing well in the d league

Season is done anyways , this is a good move by Danny

I started this thread and now I hope the kid pans out and gives us a boost.  there were some of us that really wanted to see Babb get a roster spot and now we can only guess how far he would be advanced if we had him from the start. well, hopefully, better late than never.

I doubt sitting on the bench for the first 50 games would have been better than playing regularly in Maine.  Most likely result is that he would have spent much of the season in Maine anyway, except costing the Celtics more money.

I know its the D-League, but... Babb was pretty good defensively in pre-season and even CBS was impressed and commented on that even though he wasn't asked a question about him at all.

He even said he didn't want to lose him, and for him to keep doing what he has to do.
Quote
He spurned bigger potential paydays overseas to latch on with the Red Claws in hopes of working his way to the NBA through the D-League. His stat line with Maine doesn't leap off the page -- 12 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.2 steals over 37.5 minutes per game -- but it was his defensive tenacity that stood out.

With Maine, Babb was credited with defending a team-high 353 plays this season and allowing only 0.748 points per play, according to Synergy Sports data. Often matched up against the opposing team's top scoring wing, Babb limited opponents to 34.9 percent shooting. What's more, opponents scored just 34.6 percent of total possessions against him. Of all players with at least 250 possessions defended this season in the D-League, Babb was second behind only Reno's Mo Charlo (33.3) in score percentage.

I didn't see to much from him on offense, but he used his strength and speed very well to stay in front of his man.

I specifically noticed him stop Harrison Barnes from dribble driving a few times.

I thought he looked awesome on defense, really didn't notice him on offense.
