It's a huge test for the new coach right out of the gate.  He's never had to go through this type of situation - and a lot of guys wouldn't have bothered trying.

I really think this team is going to be lousy, but it will be interesting to focus on Stevens to see if he can make this team at least semi competitive on a regular basis.

There are going to be nights - especially when they're playing 3 times in 4 days - when they're just going to say screw it, we're not trying tonight - and get beat by 20.

Bass, Hump and Bogan and NBA journeyman - or starters only by necessity not by design.

Crawford, Lee and Brooks are wanna be's (Brooks is the most talented in the bunch, but has not shown much maturity).

Wallace, Bradley and Green are complementary players

Olynyk and Fav are green

Sullinger so out of shape we will be lucky if he does not injure himself again.

So yea is going to be tough to watch until Rondo gets back.

Most impressive have been Pressey and Fav!

I expected to be one of the worst teams, but we may be absolutely horrible and difficult to watch.  Wallace is the only one playing like a professional starter.

I guess it proves that Pierce and KG truly did make everyone else better because guys like Bradley, Lee, and Green all look like they have regressed.  Remember all those easy Bradley backcut layups?  I'm not seeing much of that now.  Now he's missing contested layup after contested layup or getting his shot blocked.  Green looks good only when there is space created by someone else drawing attention.

Lee looks pretty bad and Sullinger doesn't seem to have as much space to operate so he is drifting further from the hoop.

You have to remember, we aren't playing our best players late and Stevens is just looking at groupings.  You think Brooks is going to be finishing games we are trying to win?

I think the first half was a better representation of what games are going to look like for the most part.

That said, if the offense we ran against Minny is any indication of what we can expect in the future, I'm not impressed.  The handoff/pick for as long a two as possible for our 2s and 3s doesn't get me excited.  KO, needs to do more than setting pick after pick after pick and we need to do what out players do best.  That is having KO or Sully with the ball, top of the arc and another big flashing low or cutters going to the basket.  We have bigs who can pass, lets use them.

It isn't so much that KG and PP made everyone else better it is just with KG and PP being option 1 and option 2, they took pressure off and the other guys were in roles better suited for their skill set.  Now instead of option 3, Green is option 1 and that is something he should never be.  Bradley goes from 4 or 5 to 2 or 3, etc.  You can't just take role players and expect them to be 1st or 2nd options on a team.  It never works.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I said in another thread that they look like an 18-20 win team, especially factoring in rondo's situation.  I have been amazed that people on here actually believe they are a playoff team.

Really, you find it "amazing"?

We'll see.  I have stated my reasons why I think we have at least a "prayer" of being a playoff team this year.

Obviously, a lot depends on the Rondo situation.  I agree that this team that we've been watching in the preseason doesn't look like it will have any shot at being a playoff team.

Indeed.  You can't take a bunch of 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th men and turn them into an effective starting lineup.

they haven't played a single regular season game yet.  Relax.

They look terrible. Sure.  But what if they look a lot better on opening night with a tightened rotation?  you're going to see a lot more of Wallace/Green/KO/Bradley/Sully/Bass/Lee/Hump and once Rondo is back you can add him in there too.

It's no secret that if Rondo misses significant time then it's not even worth being good this season.  The team will never recover from the games lost without Rondo.  They literally do not have a PG on the team.  And don't tell me Phil Pressey.  He's an undrafted rookie who's 5'9!

Without Rondo this team is toast.

-Gerald Wallace already seems p---ed.
-Jeff Green looks like he doesn't care
-Bass/Sully/Hump/KO all play the same position.
-Bradley cannot run the point.
-Crawford/Lee/Brooks stink

The games are really, really tough to watch.  The team seems to have no chemistry or energy.

Hopefully there's a spark when the regular season starts, and another one when Rondo comes back.  I don't expect this team to be good, but I do hope they can play hard.

I'll co-sign this as well. We have what amounts to a great bench rotation... but without quality starters beyond Rondo and Green.

Not that it's possible, but adding Humphries, Bogans/Brookes and Wallace to our roster last year in place of the China 3 would've possibly been the best bench of the Big 3 era.

Guards:
Rondo, Crawford
Bradley, Lee

Wings:
Pierce, Green, Wallace.

Bigs:
Bass, Sullinger,
KG, Humphries,

That's not a bad regular season/11 man rotation.
