This is if the celts want to have a chance to win this year. Its been ridiculous the last two, three games anytime at the 2nd/3rd quarter KO is scoring or passing , celts have comeback or taken the lead now, then suddenly guys are not even passing it to him. Guys like jcraw at times and brooks almost all the time dont know how to ride the hot hand to try to win a game.
Its on stevens also to identify this issue and make plays for KO. Tell guys like brooks to stop over dribbling and utilize the inside/outside game more.
We're in the preseason. Not only are teams not game-planning, not only are they giving playing time to players that won't ever be in their regular rotations, but the opposing players barely know who he is. It's encouraging that this works in the preseason, I'm hopeful KO amounts to something, but I wouldn't expect him to be great coming out of the gate.
Pre season is winding down fast. Some teams have one or two games left. This is not the time to experiment and set the rotation and maybe test out one or two guys.
I agree the planning aspect is not as stressed, but i do disagree that Olynyk will struggle like he did in his first two games in the pre season when the regular season begins. He is going to avg around 10 points , 5 reb, 2-3 assist etc from the get go and i hope gets more playing time/responsibilities as the season ages and does 14 pts, 7 reb, 203 assist to content for the ROY award. (though at this rate looks like thats Oliadipo to lose)
That would be great, but keep in mind the only 14/7 rookies in the last 8 years were Cousins, Blake Griffin and Anthony Davis.
and?? Why do you keep placing Olynyk at a lower level. Because he was drafted later??
It's a given the guys you listed have either more athleticism, longer wingspan or better rebounding/shot blocking skills. But also on the flipside
Olynyk > Cousins = higher IQ, maturity, motor
Olynyk > Griffin = Height, IQ, maturity, handle, jump shot, passing
Olynyk > Anthony = handle, jump shot
I'm not stating he will be better than any of these guys. He might just avg 10-12 and 6 for rest of the year but i'm optimistic. He is in a good position to avg numbers around the mark i mentioned bc of his capabilities, height adv and will get plenty of playing time (a theme in common with all of these guys).
He is going to be a good one and if you don't believe, just keep watching
