Really ?  You don't seriously think a GM like Ainge is getting a player just to tank, do you ? OP, you're not being serious right now.

For me, Crawford was a great get.  I don't understand the hate for the kid, especially since he's still only 24.

The guy has major skills both offensively & defensively.  I am going to count this acquisition as Ainge just grabbing up another 'asset', because that's exactly what Crawford will be down the road.

Personally, I think he was misused and misunderstood in Washington and Atlanta.  The guy is a player, and he's showing you a glimpse or two early on here in the preseason. Bottom line, the other organizations should've waited it out with the kid. The league's a learning process and it looks like he's well ahead of the curve early on here in 2013.  I'm hoping Stevens gives him 25-30 minutes + per night, right now and when Rondo gets back.  He deserves the minutes & is better than Lee & Brooks, combined.

I agree with you on most part, just not the better than Lee + Brooks combine. I think Lee is better defensively, but offensively, I do think Crawford is better than both. I do think he will be an asset down the road and a trade chip for us to package

not seeing the argument behind this topic.

Crawford has looked surprisingly good this preseason.  Brooks and Lee are looking like they'll cost us more games than Crawford.  (if AB's ballhandling doesn't improve or his shot disappears, he might cost us more too).

This is getting annoying. Celtic fans across all the forums (here, realGM, ESPN, whatever) are way too harsh towards this kid. He has said nothing but the right things since putting on the Celtic uniform, and he tried to change last season (even though Doc and Ainge wanted him to chuck a bit haha). He has been our best guard this preseason, and it's because he has been playing well. His shot selection has been good. His handle has been good. His vision has been really good. Let's stop dumping on the kid. He's still young.

TP for you.  I like Crawford's game too.  His herky jerky movement is reminiscent of Earl Monroe.

gotta agree with the last 2 posters
crawford has looked like our best guard this preseason
brooks and lee have been completely forgettable
if rondo was back now first guard off the bench would be crawford

and full disclosure i felt crawford was the weakest of bunch and didn't like what i saw last year with 90% of his offensive game, so far this year he looks much much better

If he wanted to tank he'd make sure that Courtney Lee or Brooks were playing over Crawford.

Crawford continues to be a solid player, as much as some ignore it.

Crawford is playing decent  all things considered.  I think he and Pressey will do a  decent job as points while Rondo sits.   AB just doesn't impress me as point guard at all.  H e needs to work on his shot and play his good D.

Lee is a  TANK DRiVER. supreme

Still waiting for his stats to update on basketball reference.

His FG% is gonna take another hit but it'll still continue to be a career high by a large margin. Over the last 14 games he's shot 46% from the field.

Top 5 in FT%.

i just don't think anyone expected crawford to handle the point guard position as well as he has. he will be the perfect back up point guard for rondo in the future, if he doesn't end up being traded

Well, his player option was declined so him leaving for free agency would suck, hard.

The reason why we traded for Jordan Crawford was pretty straight-forward.  We were below .500 with Rondo controlling the ball 99% of the time.  After Rondo's injury, Boston suddenly changed the way they were playing.  They were sharing the ball in a free-flowing offense that was actually working.  Guys like Terry and Leandro Barbosa were suddenly playing quality minutes in the wake of Rondo's absence.  We were winning games and digging ourselves out of the hole... and then Barbosa got injured.   We needed someone to fill Barbosa's role... we were able to trade injured Barbosa for Crawford.  The Wizards simply didn't want Crawford anymore.  He was completely worthless to them.  They just wanted him gone.  We simply needed someone who could score buckets off the bench.

Big-picture, Jordan Crawford is totally the type of player Danny Ainge likes taking risks on.  It's like Ricky Davis.... you take a talented head-case who has worn out his welcome and hope that he can get his head straight and raise his trade value while playing in a competent organization.   Crawford is a classic "buy low" (in this case, EXTREMELY low) and "sell high" player.  We got him for literally nothing.  If we get a 2nd round pick for him, it's a win.
