Although it's one preseason game, they played well. Right now I say they fit better into the Celtics plans than either Bass or Lee. We'll see if that stays true but I gotta give them credit where credit is due.
4 guys not in the Celtics long term plan.
Every single guy on the Celtics roster is currently a part of the long term plan in one way or another. The better each guy plays, the better chance of the long term plan working out for the best.
This should go without saying, but it doesn't always seem to.
Humphries/Wallace are certainly not in the C's long term plan. They'll both be moved or let go after their contracts are up to make room for actual long term pieces for the Cs.
Of course they are part of the long term plan. The better they play, the better chance of getting a good return for them.
By that logic camp invites are part of the long term. Because they're practice bodies who are there to help the rookies who are part of the long term get better.
They're short term players who we're hoping to move for a return if possible. AKA short term guys that DA is going to try to convert into a long term asset. That doesn't mean they're part of the C's long term plans.
I guess I would agree that in some small way training camp invites
are a part of the long term plan. Of course, saying that they are as crucial a part of the long term plan as Gerald Wallace or Kris Humphries is about as silly (actually sillier) as saying that Gerald Wallace and Kris Humphries are as integral a part of the long term plan as Rajon Rondo.
I am growing weary of this becoming too semantic an argument, but from my perspective, they're here, so they are part of the plan.
That doesn't mean they stay forever, but it means I root for them to do well while they are Celtics. Those guys playing well won't only make for a more enjoyable season, but it well help make for a brighter future.
