Thanks to RD6 (whoever that is).  Sully and Oly didn't play together much vs the heat.  I like it how Stevens at times pairs them up and at times doesn't. Depending on the situation

Still having one out there is always a treat to watch. Both can really pass. Love the sullinger spin and pass to wallace. And Olynyk is always making the extra pass(sometimes too unselfish). Encouraging to see him make those two clutch jumpers with 5 min and less left in the game.

I'm not going to rush to judgement about Sully and Olynyk's defense together until Sully loses the weight he put on due to his injury and Olynyk has an offseason to build muscle. I know neither will be rim protectors but positional defense is just as important as physical ability. As long as they can rebound defensively, they should be fine.

My money's on coaching. Sully took fewer threes all of last year than he's taken so far this year.
Never mind his shot selection, just look at the difference in personnel: we traded three of our best long-range shooters away over the summer. I don't like Sully taking threes on this team, but I REALLY wouldn't like him doing it on last year's team.

So sure, coaching, but probably with some good reason.

I thought Kelly was going to be a horrible rebounder, but he isn't too bad when given 20+ minutes. He got 8 rebounds vs the Heat.

But I also agree Sully should drop some weight. Also, I think kelly would benefit bulking up a bit

There are those who might say that players are likely to have inflated rebounding stats against the team that is currently last in offensive rebounding percentage, third-worst in defensive rebounding percentage, and dead-last in rebounds per game by more than four rebounds per game.

KO is 62nd in PER rebounding.  Sully is 42.  Acceptable but not great.

I'm starting to wonder if maybe Sullinger and Olynyk are these guys:

Not sure how high the ceiling is for that pairing, if indeed that ends up being a fair comp.  But I really like what I'm seeing from those two.  Especially encouraging since the Celtics got both without earning a lottery pick.

Well I like the Olynyk/Scola comparison. The thing is if Olynyk can develop a reasonably efficient 3-ball, that might even push him above Scola.

Don't care for the Scola one either because he is a much better passer and 7 feet tall.  Olynyk really might be the best passing big in the NBA already.  He's right on the short list.

Olynyk reminds me of a Vlade/Dirk combo in some ways.  But I do like the David West comparison for Sully, I've been making it.

How soon we forget.

KG is on the short list.  Olynyk is too.  I think Love is the best right now though.

Point is, Olynyk is just starting on his rookie year and he's already near the top.  Very impressive.

So this best passing big thing is a really interesting idea.

In the last 30 years, only 5 bigs (F-C) have averaged at least 5 assists a game.

Webber (twice, but one is a wash--he only played 15 games)
Vlade
Schrempf
Jeff Ruland
And

Boris. Diaw.

I love saying the name Detlef Schrempf, and I loved watching him play, but he was no Big.

Yeah I was about to say.  Definitely a SF.

Nice list though.  Like I was saying, Olynyk reminds me of Vlade.
