he was never a Celtic. All he did was use the organization to pump up his resume. He never won any championships he should not have won, and he certainly lost championships he should have won.

He will be exposed BIG TIME in LA.

So let him have his say before the season. Comparing an NBA winning team to a team that has never got past the first round of the playoffs.

Doc Rivers = Fake.

oh please!  doc was great for the team, organization, and city in his time here.  coach of the year, 2 finals appearances, 1 championship, helped develop guys like rondo, perk, powe, ta, etc.  aside from actually coaching, the way he managed the egos and personalities of the locker room was remarkable.

doc rivers=celtic

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Doc's running the same game on the Clippers that he did with the Celtics. It's a business people, your kidding yourself if you think Doc wasn't always thinking about what's best for Doc at the end of the day. He's no longer affiliated with the Celtics so you shouldn't get mad when he starts tooting the horn of the organization/team which is now signing his checks. Doc is no dumby and he's going to do and say what it takes to make it where ever he ends up. I'm sure he loved Boston and the Celtics, but I understand he's not half as sentimental about it as he acts.

  • No no no, not THAT "Eric M Van".

I did find it hilarious that Doc said this should be the best defensive team he's ever had.His point was that he has a lot of athletes. If you are super athletic it helps tremendously on defense. Complete joke of a comment though. Wasnt that 2008 and other defensive teams we had some of the best in the history of the game with one of the best defenders of all time.

Now they have blake griffin and deandre jordan. I mean come on that's laughable.

I highly doubt they make much noise this year. Chris paul and the clippers have been overrated for a few years now. They are always "contenders" to start the season and then every one makes 100 excuses for them when they fail miserably

Vinny del negro was not the reason they didn't do anything. They just aren't as good as their sports center highlights would suggest

Get over it life goes on.
It would be easier if he wouldn't keep saying stuff like the Lakers are the best NBA franchise ever and his new Clippers team will be the best he ever had. I like that comment. Now he better win a ring. I mean it's the best team he ever had.

He also "thinks DeAndre Jordan is a ‘Big 3′ caliber player".

Incredibly disapointed in the guy, but Doc Rivers is a Celtic. He was a great coach and except a few, obviously, all his players respected him. He's no fraud and to say that he didn't deserve the 08 championship he won is absolutely ridiculous. The best part about '08 was Rivers and Pierce finally getting their banner in Boston.

God who cares. What else is he going to do bash his own team? Of course he is going to say this whether he believes it or not. Doc is a wonder working the media he is a great media guy. So he is going to tell them what they want to hear and let the media run with the story.

Im sure if he was coaching the Celtics right now he would say something like "Sure we are young but we still have a chance at being a contender. this team has more heart than any team ive coached." Its part of good coaching. Instilling confidence in your team whether you honestly believe it or not. Especially saying it publicly, it changes the whole mindset of the team towards being positive and confident.

I'm sure none of the Big 3 minded that one

He also sees him in the running for DPOY. Heh.

But then you have to accept the consequences of giving the other team bulletin board material.  Pros and cons.

Pretty ballsy commemt by Doc considering our starting 5 never lost a playoff series. Best team ever!

I liked Doc with us and I like him now though.

These comments are kinda funny like when he wanted the 2010 celtics to be like the 85 bears with the best defense ever and we were losing to the the worst teams in the league at home etc that year.

I often get the distinct impression that Doc doesn't really think a lot about the stuff he says

I often get the distinct impression that Celtics fans think that all other coaches, players, fans, and analysts should always be talking about how awesome the Celtics are. Get over it, the C's are my favorite team but they've won 1 title in 20 years, they were appropriately praised for their success, their players and coach at the time did and said great things for the C's and now they are appropriately trying to pump up their new teams just as we as C's fans would expect a new coach or player to do so upon arriving here.

Tried to be a Rivers fan,  bleed green and all,  but never could really dig him. and Imhave my reasons...but...'ll leave it at that .  He wore out his welcome with me .

Much happier to see a new face as coach .

Stevens is a breath of fresh air for the Celtics......kinda air out the Rivers mess.
