I often get the distinct impression that Doc doesn't really think a lot about the stuff he says

I often get the distinct impression that Celtics fans think that all other coaches, players, fans, and analysts should always be talking about how awesome the Celtics are. Get over it, the C's are my favorite team but they've won 1 title in 20 years, they were appropriately praised for their success, their players and coach at the time did and said great things for the C's and now they are appropriately trying to pump up their new teams just as we as C's fans would expect a new coach or player to do so upon arriving here.

We may not have even won in 2008 with another coach.  KG may have refused to come here if there was another coach.  All those free agents that helped us may not have come if we had another coach in place.

Players obviously want to play for Doc.  Just look at how the Clippers immediately became remodeled with quality fee agents as soon as Doc took over.

It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Doc is and always has been an average coach at best who was clueless with his rotations.

He had the best roster in 2008 by far and he didn't screw it up, although he almost tried by benching House in the Atlanta series.

He also is beloved by the media everywhere because he is a HUGE politician.

He will be exposed in LA like Herm Edwards was when he destroyed Kansas City in less than two years. He is also lazy and our defense was all KG and Thibideau.

Also he is a proven liar like when he said Shaq had a sprained whatever when he knew Shaq had a torn achilles, as Shaq later admitted.

Good riddance.

Players want to play for Doc Malpractice because he plays favorites and gives the vets whatever they want.

Whatever. I'm done with the guy but if people keep bringing it up, that's fine. Let's talk after the season and see what he does in the city of the greatest franchise in all of professional sports.

no one brings Doc Malpractice up until he opens his mouth and disses the Celtics.

I will continue to bring it up when he slights the Celtics.

By the way props to whoever coined the nick 'Doc Malpractice'

IIRC, very few thought the 2008 Cs could get things together quickly and gel enough to win a title.  Doc got them to do it.  Yes, KG was important, and yes, Thibs was a great defensive coach, but when you win, especially with a team of almost all newcomers, the HC gets a lot of the credit.

I've been following the NBA for almost 40 years. Doc did a tremendous job in 2008, and badly out-coached Phil Jackson in the Finals. i would have liked another title or two, but i don't blame Doc to KG or Perk's knee injury or for breaking up the "starting lineup that had never been defeated in a playoff series."

He didn't want to coach a rebuild, and I don't think ownership wanted to pay him to coach a rebuild.  Time to move on.  he's going to talk up  his new team, as he should.  I'm not going to diminish his contribution to the last half-decade of Celtics basketball. Every game, my team could get a win, and that's a great thing for a fan.  I hope that happens again real soon.

he lucked into adjustments in the final to an awful Laker team.

He is not as good as his press clippings.

No one thinks about Doc Mal until he throws insults at the Celtics.

Only a coach of the year... whenever Doc has had a good team, talented free agents flock.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I mean, one more thing to note here is that Doc is the longest tenured coach outside of what..Red and Tommy?

So in the Cs history , nobody has lasted longer than Doc other than two basketball immortals?

Because he totally dissed the Celtics.  Except he didn't.  Oh my goodness, he said the Clippers could be the best team he's ever coached - that's totally like saying "LOL THE CELTICS SUCKED, FOOLED YOU GUYS ALL ALONG."
