He really doesn't look fat to me.

Dude has a big butt.  That's just his body type.

I get that people have different body types, but that goes along with the 'muscle weighs more than fat' and 'he is big-boned' arguments. In my experience, people are generally just fat and this is most likely the case with Jared.

Except he honestly doesn't look "fat" to me.

Sure, he doesn't look like Kevin Garnett or Rondo, but that's not in the cards for Jared.

You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Sully has a heavy lower half. There is nothing he can do about it. Its what makes him unique for the bad and the good.

As long as he is back to where he was last yr before injury with added stamina, thats all you can ask for

I just hope he keeps stroking that 3-ball with the form that he had in that vid...stepped right into the shot with no hesitation and a pretty release.

Hope he can get his act together fast.

You're saying this as if he wasn't just cleared a couple of weeks ago to play and was just being lazy. He actually doesn't look fat. I've seen his instagram pics of when he has on dress clothes or non-basketball attire and his body looks totally different.

i think part of it is that he is just "doughy" biologically.  its tough to tell by the video what his physique looks like.  if he has gained a lot of weight, im not happy with him.  i can understand gaining a few extra pounds bc of his surgery and cant exercise well, but anything over 10 pounds is terrible imo.  with a proper diet, he should never gain more than 10 lbs, regardless if he exercises or not.

Watched all the summer league games several of which he attended. He looked flabby then. What alarmed me about the more recent video was the apparent belly, which he did not have last year. Also, being cleared for basketball activities does not mean he can't eat right and do basic conditioning.

I wouldn't say anything if he was not a well compensated professional athlete. He needs to get his act together if he is going to last in the NBA - pure and simple. I say that because of the nature of the NBA game, the demands of the NBA schedule and the strain that the extra weight puts on your back - is just a fact.

Also. He was in great shape throughout his Ohio State career and all of last year. So not saying he can't do it.

I just don't know about this. Of course people are built differently, but I stand by the assertion that almost all 'big' people could stand to lose a bit of weight.

My very good friend, who is 5'7" and was 195 lbs used to be very muscular looking and could lift a lot of weight (used to play college football). Everybody thought he was huge - including him. About a year ago, he took to a healthier diet and long distance running (even doing a couple of marathons) with some lifting in between. He now weighs 155 lbs, is totally cut, and can still lift the same amount of weight.

I think that over the past couple of decades Americans have come to think that 'huge' is awesome. Those 1950s weight charts that everybody thinks are ridiculous probably aren't so far off. As a professional NBA athlete, where conditioning should be without a doubt the number one thing on which players work, I believe Jared has a ways to go. Frankly, more guys should look like Ray Allen and less like Oliver Miller.

Sully has a non typical NBA player frame. He can and will gain weight when not active. Where a player like Jeff Green or Rondo can sit home injured and still look to be in shape Sully packs on the pounds. I'm not worried he is a hard worker and will be in shape a few months into the season.

Here we go again! Just like the constant Big Baby threads.  ;D

Except Sully is not a dummy like BBD, both on and off the court seemingly.

I'm not surprised he put on a little spare tire lying around after back surgery. I also won't be surprised when he loses it when he can amp up his conditioning.

Right.  There was really no way for him NOT to put on weight, since he wasn't able to workout for so long.  But, now that he is able to workout again, I imagine he is working his butt off (quite literally) to get into shape.
Yes, lets see him slim that frame down and tighten that big butt he can throw at guys  ;D

I get that people have different body types, but that goes along with the 'muscle weighs more than fat' and 'he is big-boned' arguments. In my experience, people are generally just fat and this is most likely the case with Jared. In his defense, he has been completely unable to work out - hopefully he will take his conditioning seriously. I really can't wait to see him play this year - love his attitude and his skill-set.
Unless there's a medical condition in play, your shape is typically a function of your calorie intake and exercise regimen. So that whole "just fat" argument is a steaming pile of you know what.

This being said, Sullinger's butt looked just fine at about this time last summer. A draft year does miracles for discipline.
I'd be surprised if the 'just fat' argument is bull.  I find that keeping weight off is easy . I have more trouble putting it on than taking it off.  I eat more and exercise less than many friends who constantly battle the  bulge.  Doesn't genetics and metabolism have a lot to do with it?

I don't care about charts or what other people's friends experience, no one is the same. From every account, by the people who actually see Sully in REAL life, he works extremely hard. So if the guy never looks like how you think he should doesn't mean he isn't working as hard or harder than guys who look like Lebron! So if none of our eye tests can tell us how much he weighs then we have NO idea. Like I said, he looks smaller than he did last season, to me. "You" feel differently and that's fine. That picture posted on here shows Sully in a position where his muscles are contracted, so of course it appears he looks in really good shape there... in the video all he's really doing is moving a little and walking. People who sell weight loss stuff prey on people looking to lose weight with photos and video... when in reality most times those people aren't that big. I'm not talking photoshop, I'm talking movement, lighting, and just little things that make you look bigger or smaller than you are. Have you ever met a star that you've only seen in pictures or tv/vids and thought to yourself they look bigger/smaller or shorter/taller in person? Why is that? It's b/c pics and videos don't tell the real story!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)
