I disagree, I think JV is already doing in Toronto what Tiago does in San Antonio. JV is way younger and has a midrange game.

Still, great pick nonetheless.

It is easier to stat hang on a bad team then be a starter on the team in the finals.

Yup, if there were a player in this round I would have overpaid for to trade up and grab it would be Splitter.  Solid overall player great pedigree, legit size, not many question marks.  Jordan has the knucklehead factor, Bogut has the injuries, and Vucevic and JV have the "how would the play for a contender" issue.

It's also easier when you have Duncan showing you than having the same production Splitter had on JV's rookie year.

Im not knocking the pick, I'm just disagreeing on Rondo's notion of he should have been the 1st big.

Like I told you, they will trade Kanter for a better player and better picks.

He has already learned from Duncan.

Now he is going to play with two other big men in Gasol (more vet experience and championship history) and Kanter (everyone saw IP's report)

Boston is going to own the inside.

I'm afraid that they will be able to trade Kanter for an even better player. Knowing IP firsthand, it's possible.

Well the numbers would indicate you're incorrect in everything but the last 2 sentences.

JV is way younger, and has a burgeoning midrange game, but Splitter is a better finisher, better pick and roll partner, better defender, better rebounder, scores more, scores more efficiently, and had playoff experience.

I don't understand the love for Splitter, honestly.

He averaged 6 pts and 3 rebounds in the playoffs. And he blocks less than one shot per game. What is so good about him?

I agree with both of you. That was a joke by the way before anyone writes an essay about Gasol not being able to play SF etc.

Scores more on average 2 points and better FG% by 2%. Okay. 2% is such a huge difference. But since we're there, JV TS% is better by a point.

Rebounding is pretty much the same at 6 a game (okay Splitter wins by .4). JV blocks more shots, Splitter gets more steals.

I guess Splitter, is by decimal points, better than JV, but he had some help along the way.

JV posted close to similar (i stand corrected) production playing in a Raptors team where on his rookie year he had to anchor the defense.

Again, I think it's a great pick, by no means I'm saying it's a terrible selection. I'm just disagreeing that he should be the 1st big to be selected in this round, because I'm quite certain people would take JV, maybe Nene over him.

I'd tell you this, I'd take him over DeAndre though.

Well, someone on this team is headed out of town sooner or later. My guess based on the multi-paragraphed hype article from a Utah Jazz blog, is that its Kanter. Question is: can Boston get fair value given they selected him in the mid 3rd round and its coming on the second half of the 4th round already? Will someone give up a starting quality wing player for a role playing 2nd string center that shows some promise? We will see!
