I love Rubio and Dwight together just like I loved the idea of Rondo and Dwight together.

I think Rubio's passing ability is going to be insanely difficult to contain in the pick and roll with Dwight as a screener and surrounded by shooters.

I wouldn't be worried about Rubio's lack of shooting. I would worried about the shooting ability of 2 through 4. My two guard and my two forwards. So long as those guys are good shooters, Rubio's lack of a jumper doesn't worry me. If those guys are bad shooters, problems can compound quickly and become problematic. But by themselves, Rubio and Dwight should be able to work very well together.

Speaking of PnR, wouldn't Rubio's man simply go under the screen and sag back on Howard? Essentially jamming Howard up

A little point guard defending Dwight? That is a problem?

That sounds like a good thing to me.

I probably explained that weird.

Basically both guys ignoring Rubio and just falling back on Howard.

there are some guys i like a little bit better as players but i think this guy fits best with CP3 and Pek...

Grizzzzzzzzzzz select Ersan Ilyasova

Arghh was hoping he would continue to get overlooked (although he would be a luxury off our bench)

Illy is a terrific stretch 4 who often gets underrated. Unlike most stretch 4's he's a tough and gritty player who hits the glass hard and continually shoots sub 40% from 3pt despite not working with much of a post presence.

I might be misundertanding... but Ily shot 44.8% on 2.5 3FA/gm last 2 years combined

Ilyasova is a great pick. Not sure why Milwaukee went with Anderson, when Ersan is younger and more productive across the board.

Yup.

Okc takes Ricky Rubio
This is a really strong pick for this team. Rubio/Green/Howard is an intriguing trio.

(Insert jab related to Rubio's health record)

Yeah, but the D12 / Rubio combo somehow made it to the conference finals last year, so at least there's a track record there.

Hmm, that's odd.

I like Rubio a lot as a player and feel he's a bit underrated, but I'd want a PG who can shoot a bit better playing off Howard.

I agree with this. Rubio/Howard is not a good pairing.

Huh. Howard is an elite finisher rolling or cutting to the basket, Rubio is one of the games three or four best passers. I'd watch them. It's also a very strong defensive pairing.

You're focusing on the one offensive weapon they have. Shut it down and what do they do? Rubio's gonna start swishing three's? Dwight pulls out his post game 9 years in the making?

I'd assume he would if he is wide open.

The big still has to step out on Rubio to stop Rubio from having a wide open lane to the basket. And Dwight is still one of the quickest centers rolling to the hoop, one of the physically strongest players in the league in being able to hold deep post position (when he beats his man to the post) and an explosive leaper capable of catching and finishing a wide range of lob passes.

Stopping Rubio's drive and recovering to Dwight after showing on Rubio while limiting Rubio's passing angles is going to be very difficult for opposing teams ... even with Rubio's difficulty with his jump-shot.

Just look at Rubio and Pekovic in Minnesota.

Shut it down and what do they do?

Ha. That doesn't quite qualify as a plan though. Lebron - Stop him from getting to the hoop. Curry - Don't give up any three pointers. Love - Keep him off the glass.
