BTW, riah's team, Portland, is being constructed completely by the BPA method on his list of 150 players he gave me. He got 2 guys in his top 20 and 3 guys in his top 40.

Houston Rockets will move Big Al to his natural power forward position and take Marcin Gortat

Ugh... This guy is too good.

I'm not sure about making Big Al a power forward, but I do like Gortat.

What I worry about is having too big men, neither of whom is tremendously mobile.  The idea of Big Al chasing around guys on the perimeter makes scares me.

To me it's the lesser of two evils. If you keep Al at center, that's a huge defensive hole for teams to exploit down low. I'd rather force the opposing team to go small ball with Gortat as the last line of defense, rather than having Jefferson as my last line of defense.

I think Gortat/Big Al are both offensive orientated Cs. Makes them tough to play heavy minutes together.

Big Al is goes from a hole at C defensively to a black hole that swallows entire star systems at PF.

I disagree.  Having two stationary big men is almost conceding any chance of playoff success against teams with mobile front lines.

As I said earlier, if the 2010 Celtics made Shaq look good at defense, then Big Al can look fine as a defensive center.  You just need to commit to a strong, mobile defensive power forward, and have some good defensive wings.  A team like that can beat anybody.  Gortat / Big Al, on the other hand, just creates problems and question marks.

I think BATF should look for a trade to bring a bit better balance.  He's got two nice players who would play horribly next to one another.

Okc takes Ricky Rubio
This is a really strong pick for this team. Rubio/Green/Howard is an intriguing trio.

(Insert jab related to Rubio's health record)

Kyle Lowry, Dwayne Wade, 13th pick in even numbered rounds, 18th pick in odd numbered rounds.

Yeah, but the D12 / Rubio combo somehow made it to the conference finals last year, so at least there's a track record there.

Hmm, that's odd.

I like Rubio a lot as a player and feel he's a bit underrated, but I'd want a PG who can shoot a bit better playing off Howard.

I would be more afraid of Melo dropping up to 60 or more on Big Al than Jefferson getting anywhere near 40 on Anthony.

I think Big Al is the center and Gortat is the power forward. Gortat will regularly be forced to defend quicker PFs who are too quick for Big Al to handle + Gortat will generally be defended by PFs on the other end of the court so teams aren't forced to put a smaller defender on Big Al.

A strong backup big man, a skilled and quick PF, would go very nicely with those two. Develop a three player big man rotation like the Lakers had a few years ago with their three bigs. I think that would create an imposing big man rotation to play against.

I think it can work.
