Dallas sends: Tony Parker, DJ Augustine

Miami sends: Steve Nash, Josh Smith and Gary Neal

A pretty good return for Tony Parker, I think.

Smith joins AK47 and Big Al on the new Mavs frontline?

No lip service, I thought the trade was really fair.

I don't like that for Dallas. I don't think they needed a player like Josh Smith on their frontline.

Very similar type of forward to AK-47 who was already on their books. Too much duplication there for me. Dallas already had Big Al and Enes Kanter as starting bigs plus the Mavs had Chris Kaman and Tyler Hansbrough as backup bigs. I don't see a need for Josh Smith. Not one large enough to be worth sacrificing such a pivotal player as Tony Parker for.

Not sure what to think about Miami yet. I loved the Josh Smith + Chris Bosh combination. Not sure what their other bigs are like.

Edit: Darrell Arthur and Sammy Dalembert. Miami's backup bigs. I don't like either one of them as a starting big man. Maybe Chander Parsons as a stretch four. Go small. Only John Salmons, Alexey Shved and Omri Casspi as options on the wing. Don't like that either. I think Miami needs another trade to bring in a starting forward to complete their new look starting unit.

Miami selects, Anthony Morrow.

G: Tony Parker
G: Anthony Morrow
F: Gordon Hayward
F: Chandler Parsons
C: Chris Bosh

I would start that lineup but I think that could be Miami's main lineup for finishing games. Darrell Arthur in there otherwise (instead of Morrow) when they need more size on the wing or at big forward.

I agree with that.  It's a very fair trade.

Parker to Nash is a downgrade, obviously, but being able to play Josh Smith next to Big Al will pay big dividends.  The trade probably brings better spacing and better ball movement to Dallas' offense, which can now be centered around Big Al.  I kind of like it; it's like the old Phoenix days, with Big Al and Josh Smith combining to play a quasi-Amare/Marion role.  The combination of Smith + Kirilenko will absolutely stifle teams up front.  I love Gary Neal as a role player, too.

For Miami, they gave up a lot of depth, but Tony Parker is a pretty elite player, obviously.  I worry about them getting muscled inside, though.

I don't think the trade is that bad for me tbh
Nash and Gordon could be formidable, Gordon getting looks like never before
And my front court trio of AK/Smith/Al is pretty dangerous on either end

Fairly even overall trade that I think with a different free agent signing could have made it better for Miami. Don't understand not going bigger in the free agent signing given Miami gave up their starting PF.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
So, can I still cut a player and acquire one via free agency? I looked at the board and I could certainly use some of them over J-Rich.

Still up for making some moves here and there. Rather not move Lawson, Horford, and Garnett though. Hit me up, I'll be here.

Ughh, already too much homework...would much rather be talking trades in my fantasy basketball league.

Send me offers as I'll be on the computer for awhile.

Looking forward to seeing how you adjust the roster, and fill in around Bosh/Chandler/Parker.

Who has a big three better then rondo, Aldridge, and hibbert?

Best interior defender in hibbert. Just ask Lebron and melo.
Triple double phenom in rajon who is an assist killer.
Aldridge one of the best and most versatile bigs alive.

With a top 20 athletic freak scorer in derozan as a fourth option?!

And bargs as a 7 foot three point bomber off the bench who averaged 20 a game and is no longer asked to be a leader.

And the 2011-12 sixth man of the year in Lou Williams.

Golden state is too raw. I look forward to presenting my case against all the hate and venom you'll throw my way  ;)
