Gotta be a fair trade if people who's opinions on basketball I know and respect greatly are coming out on both sides of the deal.

Like I said earlier, win win.

I think Deng is the best player in the deal but I think Portland might have helped their overall team and ability to debate one on one playoff match ups more with this deal.

AK is slightly more valueable than Deng.

I think it's a very even trade, but I disagree strongly with the above.  Deng is the best player in the deal, and is a much better fit for Dallas.

I just see AK being more versatile all around as opposed to Deng. AK does more things above average than Deng. Deng is definitely a better defender and probably a better scorer. I just think AK's skill set covers more ground across the board in an above average way.

TRADE

Portland sends:  Luol Deng, Byron Mullens

Dallas  sends: Enes Kanter, Andrei Kirilenko

Fitzy making a monster in Dallas.
I did say back when someone ranked me 10th in the west that I would rise  ;D

Trade helps me out 2

Absolutely it does.  I love this trade for both teams (as you know).

You get a starting center, and a guy in AK47 who arguably works just as well with Deng in your lineup.  In fact, Kirilenko might work better, because he can muscle up with bigger PFs, something that Deng isn't as good with.

I think you probably "won" the trade in terms of talent, but you guys are both big, big winners in terms of fit.

With one hour left, I want to compliment all of the GMs.

Traditionally, the late stages of the draft are when GMs go crazy, and sometimes blow up their teams in a panicky fashion.  You see teams constantly go from contenders to pretenders, and very rarely in reverse of that.

This year, I've been really impressed by the quality of the post-drafting trades.  There have been a lot of win-win deals put together, where teams have worked the phones to find trading partners that have fit well.

Among the really smart deals that worked out for the best of both teams were the Tony Parker for Nash + Smith deal, the Deng for AK47 + Kanter deal, and the Splitter for Hayward deal.

As an outside observer, I really like seeing the playoffs start with so many strong, well put together squads.  It makes ranking and voting for teams a lot harder, which is a good dilemma to have.

And let me offer this. Hats off to all the GMs for creating an absolutely fabulous playing atmosphere this year. No blow outs or fights. Limited anger or taking criticisms of your teams personally, genuine great advise for fellow competitors, and just a very amiable environment overall.

You made my job very easy. Thank you all.

Oh, and let's keep it that way during the playoffs. Remember people are not attacking you personally by being critical of your team, they are simply stating their opinion. They are not making it personal so don't take it personal.

Also, I expect, because of parity, to see some wildly divergent rankings. Take that into consideration when you see someone putting you out of the playoffs while others rank you highly. The team are just that close this year.

I just think most desired trades have been explored and obviously didn't lead anywhere, so you're unlikely to have a last second idea.

Of course somebody will surprise me with a blockbuster 5 mins out from the deadline...

That being said, I'm still listening to any and all offers ;)
