For argument's sake, assuming the team stays as it is for this season, what is your depth chart based on current knowledge of the players on our roster?
Mine would have to be:
Olynyk / Fab / Faverani
Sullinger / Bass / Humphries
Green / Wallace / Bogans
Bradley / Lee / Brooks
Rondo / Pressey / Crawford
Olynyk is the best 7 footer we have according to what I've seen of Fab and all of nothing I've seen from Faverani. I put Bogans at the 3rd string SF just because we have to many off guards. Same for Crawford at the ;point position and also because he can handle the ball half decently even if he looks alike a complete spaz -which i kind of like about his game, you never know what's going to happen...which is interesting, if often times painful...
That starting five above could be lightning quick with Olynyk's end to end speed at the Center spot, Sully would be the plodding trailer in that lineup. Rebounding would be weak, and defense in the front court suspect, though Green and Sully are both decent defenders.
Thoughts?
I think that's reasonable, though I think the up front pairings may not quite lineup that way.
I.E. - if you rest Sully out from 'PF', while leaving Olynyk still in, I don't think it makes sense to put Bass in next to Olynyk. I think up front, you want to use complementary pairings that have one guy who can work the low post and one guy who can start his offense from outside, in order to stretch the defense.
That's why I don't think conventional 'C' and 'PF' distinctions really are all that useful.
Of our bigs, I think that Sully, Hump, Olynyk & Faverani are all going to be capable of playing in the post while Olynyk, Sully & Bass are likely the best candidates to play as a 'stretch big'. I'm still not sure about Faverani's jump shot game.
Also on the bigs: While I agree with your sentiment that Sully & KO are, in the long term, probably the most talented two bigs, seem to have very complementary offensive games and may end up starting, I'm not sure they'll get the nod over the veterans to start the season. Humphries is a legit big man and a veteran and I can see him getting the starting nod, if he puts his mind into it.
I also feel Bogans is definitely not an SF, but I agree there is a real pinch for minutes at SG.
