So I have now seen several articles talking about Kobe coming back from a sometimes career ending injury in 6 months.  He also had some serious knee problems two seasons ago, which did not bother him at all last season as he was dunking on everyone in sight.

Does anyone have a reasonable explanation for this beyond he works harder than everyone else?  Or he is genetically predisposed to heal more quickly than any other human in existence?  How is this not a bigger story in this area of PED's?

Other than he's a gifted physical specimen, with also a high tolerance for pain, he's also undergone what some consider controversial procedures to fix his ailings (procedures that have started to become more common after his success).

Other than that, it would be baseless speculations that honestly will lead to nowhere. And honestly, if he's using PED's to recover from injuries, I don't see a problem with that if it's a prescribed legit medical solution.

Until it is proven otherwise, Kobe is an unbelievable competitor who deserves all the respect in the world for his will to compete.

By many accounts he is a horrible teammate and has a questionable personal code of ethics.  But he is one of the greatest basketball players in history and an even greater competitor.

I am a Kobe fan, which is hard to do loving the Celtics but it is still crazy this is not more of a story.  I guess it will be when the season starts but man this is crazy.

Also if Kobe can go to Germany and feel this much better, why did we nuke our team, we could have sent Pierce and Garnet to Germany and been all set.

I find it quite unusual that Kobe is consistently the first one to be trying out these novel therapies.

Also Kobe is def in the Brett Farve mold.

Doesn't care if he is hurting the team. Its about him not the team

I despise the Lakers and as such, despise Kobe.  If he played for another team I wouldn't despise him (as a player).  His competitiveness may be intense, but who knows really if he is more competitive than any other intense NBA players (I doubt, for instance, that he wants to win more than KG; or that he loves to play more than PP).  I don't respect or disrespect him more or less than any other player -- the only thing that distinguishes him for me is that he is a Laker.  Since he is a Laker and since he is their best player, I hope he comes back healthy and is able to lead the Lakers to an 8th seed with a quick knockout from the #1 seed next April.

I would never want a player accused of cheating (and like Budweiser said if he used PEDs to assist in rehab, I don't much care) without solid evidence. Just healing quickly is not enough, in my opinion, to place him under suspicion.

Well, as long as he and the Lakers aren't winning any titles any time soon, Kobe can recover asap for all I care.

He is quite the competitor, but all the Lakers are playing for now is a playoff spot.

No way that their roster will beat the Spurs, OKC, MEM, HOU - now, even with Kobe's recovery.

And for that, I'm happy.

I don't like Kobe and think he is overrated as a player, seems to be a sub par person and teammate and maybe there is something in this BUT I will give him credit he plays through a lot of injuries so maybe its as easy as the man can take pain and is dedicated to his sport (or his own personal game)

If he returns the same time as Rondo, there'll be no doubt in my mind he's taking performance enhancing supplements. As long as Boston don't do what many think and extend Rondo's recuperation to aide in the the assumed tanking process, I imagine he'd be one of the quickest to return from an ACL tear.

If a guy older than him and suffering an injury about as bad, if not worse, takes about as long to come back, I'm not sure how that won't raise more than a few eyebrows.

Kobe may want to keep silent about on his return date lest he draws even more suspicion about PEDs but then again, the NBA seems to largely escape much suspicion about PED use because it's not a sport in which being quicker, faster, more explosive and having better endurance are important.  But Kobe is the hardest working athlete of all-time so I'm so it's all legitimate.

Even if he returns miraculously by the start of the season, I can't see him being anywhere close to the player he was last season.  I think he's going to struggle and put up poor percentages if his quickness and lift are down.
