I'm going to go ahead and say that the Celtics are more likely to win a title than the Knicks in the next five seasons.

Yes, very probable answer... I have no doubts about that. You think that this Cs team without Pp and Kg can b better than NYK.  You might even think that this team with Faverani and Kardashian can beat HEAT

The Knicks don't scare me at all. I really don't like any of their offseason pick ups.
Plus Chandler isn't getting any younger. Shump is a good young player but they should've also resigned Copeland (he went to Indy.)

Right now, I still say the only real threat in the East is Miami with Indy and Chicago a close 2nd and 3rd.

From the 4th to 8th seed, it's anybody's ball game.

What would people think about this potential lineup?

Rondo
Bradley/Lee
Green
Melo
Asik

Not sure how we would pull that off financially (haven't looked into it), but with the $10m TPE, we could bring in Asik.  Then would need to find a way to get Melo likely via S&T.

Melo is as Laker bound as I've ever seen in this league. The James consolation prize.

I think the Celtics would have to make the playoffs (or come really close) for him to consider it.  And it's possible they could.

This is it really. He still would be close to home but I don't see why he would leave the Knicks for a similar situation in Boston (with Melo + Rondo) they would be in the same situation as the Knicks are now. I also don't see how Boston could afford him without unloading some serious deals.

I agree with Loose Cannon. By dint of the fact, we are in a much better position with our expirings, average age of the team and draft picks to trade for or draft the 2 or 3 superstars needed to get a title than the Knicks, we could get a title before them. Especially if a scenario plays out where the dead end they are headed for causes them to have to trade  Melo to whomever he wants (hypothetically us) for whatever they can get, or else he'll walk and they get nothing.

I'd much prefer to have Rondo running point, Jeff at SF and save our big money for someone down low. Jeff is very talented and just blooming. I'm excited to see what he does this year at full health.

Carmelo is a great player, but I think the upgrade in skill between him and Jeff is minor ...even a downgrade defensively...while we would benefit in a greater way from a strong interior defender and offensive pass point for Rondo in a big man.

Melo also just irks me...he's a crybaby. Not the type of guy I want on my team if I'm runnin the show. And he's in my fraternity...so I would typically be (relatively) excited to have him on my team.

If Melo goes to the Lakers next year I'll eat my shoe.

I selected "No, keep Green and forget Melo. He's not a franchise guy."

Probably sounds crazy to some people, choosing Jeff Green over Carmelo Anthony, but Melo's just not a champion. A great scorer, yes, and a pretty good rebounder, but not anywhere close to being a complete player, and certainly not in the KG/Pierce mold of being a sacrificial team player. He's like Bad Kobe without the Good Kobe.

I'd rather keep Green and Rondo and try to find another star/cornerstone or two in the draft—either in the next couple years, or possibly one of the guys we already have, such as KO or Sully.

Don't sweat it. Seems like that would be typical Lakers good karma, but he's just Kobe Lite—the same drawbacks but without as many positives. The Lakers signing Carmelo would assure them of many first- or second-round playoff exits in the near future.

Is true. Carmelo can not be a leader like Lebron

No, I don't care about Laker's karma--I just don't see him leaving the Knicks. It's where he wanted to go, and he's no Dwight Howard.

Ah, I gotcha. Yeah, he badly wanted to be in NY.

I'd rather make a run and take a chance on Cousins.

Melo's been a second round looser for years.

Would love to see Cousins with Stevens coaching him. If Stevens is as good as every one thinks he is with getting the best out of players, we'd know pretty quick if Cousins is a franchise type guy.
