Okay, so I freely admit, I have no idea who this guy is.

So can someone tell me whyy everyone seems so excited? What does he bring to the table?

He was a fellow assistant with Tom Thibodeau in San Antonio.  He is credited with improving OKC's defense during his time there, moving the Thunder from 27th to 7th in opposing FG% in his first season.  He was Thibs' lead assistant in Chicago.  He's considered one of the top assistant coaches in the NBA and a defensive guru.

It's probably almost as exciting as Tom Thibodeau being fired in Chicago and coming back to Boston to run the defense.

Sound great. Thank you for the info. A young team like the Celtic could certainly use a defensive guru.
