Draft, develop, deal, repeat.  All the time, try to win as many games as possible.  Tanking is neither good for the locker room nor the fans.
tanking in 07 was good for the fans. it brought us a championship 1 year later.

There is much speculation and unjustifiable leaps of logic in that sentence which makes it difficult to be understood let alone responded to.
Not really. The better draft position got us Ray Allen. It wasn't Wally or West that convinced Seattle to do the deal.

Ray Allen helped get us KG.

If we had the 16 pick in the draft, it is possible neither trade happens.
exactly.

It's possible they do with a future 1st going to Seattle.
you got to be kidding me if you think they would have accepted that.

a future 1st that could potentially be pick 30, or pick 5. Hard decision.
Yes because Ray Allen coming off surgery would make the worst team in the league the best team in the league.  Or maybe they would've taken the 5th, 6th or 7th pick we would have gotten if we didn't (allegedly) tank.  We were just that bad.
You can argue all you want, but you cant argue against the fact that ray allen was going to make the celtics significantly better, especially not 5th pick worst. Were they going to get a top 4 pick now with ray allen on the celtics? most likely Not, and why even risk it? 5 is still extremely high. They had no debate. Noone except bballtim thinks the sonics even thought of a future 1st when they had a 5th pick and the stud athletic freak Jeff Green in the palms of their hands.

I believe the KG to boston chatter was beginning around the time of that trade. People were starting to recognize what was about to happen... future 1sts have much less value than a draft day  5th overall pick with a stud still on board, and the fact that i have to explain that is sad.

All sorts of things are possible, but that is speculation. We also do not know what other offers Seattle was fielding.

What we do know is the pick we got by tanking was good enough to get the deal done. A few more wins could have meant that we could not get them the player they wanted. They wanted Green -- that is what draft day trades are about. Getting the particular player that you covet.
