I agree, but would do it only for Drummond, not Monroe.

I don't know Monroe is still young.  He is only 23 years old.

His D isn't great but he score and rebound.

Drummond's only 19 (soon to be 20) and while I agree Monroe is currently more skilled than Drummond, Drummond performed better than expected last year and he's a full 3 years younger.

I'd insist on Drummond too.

yea, I like Monroe, but not enough to trade Rondo for him. I think he's very skilled offensively and still young, but imo has pretty much peaked and will not be a #1 guy on a contender. Drummond on the other hand is raw but has all the tools to be as good or better than Dwight Howard, and reportedly a good attitude, a potential league MVP type of big man. I'm not saying he will definitely be that good, but the potential is legit and too good not to insist on.

...and Drummond's development fits in better with a time frame of getting a high lottery this year because he will still be raw and learning.

Drummond/Olynyck/Sullinger sounds like a THE frontcourt of the future, and they can all grow together.

Rondo is more than just an All-Star PG. He is a difference maker in important games.

Not many can put up 44-8-10 and go the distance (53 minutes) vs the eventual World Champs in a conference final. He almost willed an upset in that series and very few players have that capability.

like ive said i would do rondo for drummond and an expiring idc about knight, but knight would be good as well.

a 2014 lineup of

knight/ or pressey
jeff green/ bradley
wiggins
sully
drummond

thats a future top5 defensive team and future championship team with a couple more pieces. ;D

id do this trade. But honestly, rondo with green and wiggins can also win a championship.

Celtics Trade:

Rondo, Wallace, Bass, Lee, 2nd round picks

Pistons Trade:

Monroe, Knight, Charlie V, Stuckey

Pistons are getting by far the best player in the deal, and the necessary missing piece to their roster in Rondo.

Their starting lineup of Rondo/Lee/Smith/Bass/Drummond with Wallace as a 6th man would be much more competitive than anything else they put together.

Celtics get Monroe, who they would have to get to agree to sign an extension before this trade were agreed to. Knight had a good year, but he's nowhere near Rondo's ability, and is more of a TBD prospect, IMO.

The key trade-off is the instant cap flexibility we would get from swapping Wallace/Bass/Lee contracts for Charlie V/Stuckey. Assuming we can get Monroe on a deal in the 10-13 mil per, we would then have an additional $17+ million coming off the books for 2013/14.

We would be able to stink it up for the year, hopefully net a top 3-5 pick, and then also be one of the prime players in 2013/14 free agency.

Knight and an expiring contract. Danny must have been very entertained.

I'd counter with offering Lee and Wallace for Drummond

I love Rondo and am not someone who thinks the Celtics should trade him.  However, Drummond would be worth it.  The Celtics should be proactive ad see how married to Drummond Detroit is.  Try something like Rondo, Bass, and a future firts rounder or two for Drummond and Villanueva.

Drummond is the perfect player to put next to Olynyk.  They would really compliment each other and could be the front court for the next decade.

The two of them, Jeff green, draft a two guard this season and find a point guard.  With Sully, Bradley, Iverson, Pressey, and another small forward coming off the bench.  I could live with that team.  Assuming they get a top five pick this year and the two guard they draft is top notch.

LOL that's way too much for Drummond! To me that's too much for DH! Would I give up RR, Bass, first round picks for Cousins? I'm sorry, other than attitude, Drummond is not better than Cousins.

People constantly undersell RR, hopefully DA doesn't!

I agree Cousins is  more valuable than Dummond,   something tells me Drummond is going to go the route of Greg O. and be injuries more than available .

There you go !     offer. Lee, Wallace,  Kardashian ,  Crawford,  Melo,  Bass .......but not Rondo

Rondo is worth more than Drummond.

Who knows what is true or not with these rumors but I would be really surprised if Detroit actually thought this was an offer that might be accepted.  It may be an indication though that discussions are underway

Here are some observations:

Boston seems to be going out of their way to show the world that Rondo and the new coach are happy together.  They are trying too hard to show the league that everyone is happy.  I don't think they would be putting on this show if it was as simple as we aren't trading Rondo.  If they don't trade Rondo, who cares about all this happy stuff?

Houston also went overboard I thought to have the GM come out and say that DH loves Lin and Asik so he is not going to trade them becasue Dwight says so.  That seems very wierd to me too.

Then Detroit makes this ridiculous offer.

Something is going on.

I do this trade in a heartbeat. Works in the Trade Machine.

Boston gets :
Villanueva (expiring)
Knight
Drummond
Detroit 2014 first rounder

Detroit gets :

Rondo
Fab Melo
