Well I don't see a match because if I'm Detroit, I'm not giving up Drummond or Monroe for rondo.  You don't trade young bigs for older small players.

Older, small player? Rondo? Drummond and Monroe better be the next coming of Hakeem and Sampson or it's the Pistons who are making a mistake. All-star, playoff superstar pgs don't grow on trees and pg is definitely a need for them. Rondo is proven and in his prime. I am not sure I deal Rondo for Drummond unless they are taking back a bad contract or two, as well...

I'm sure DA countered by asking for Drummond.  LOL.
Too bad the Pistons have no other assets that we'd want.

I love Rondo and am not someone who thinks the Celtics should trade him.  However, Drummond would be worth it.  The Celtics should be proactive ad see how married to Drummond Detroit is.  Try something like Rondo, Bass, and a future firts rounder or two for Drummond and Villanueva.

Drummond is the perfect player to put next to Olynyk.  They would really compliment each other and could be the front court for the next decade.

The two of them, Jeff green, draft a two guard this season and find a point guard.  With Sully, Bradley, Iverson, Pressey, and another small forward coming off the bench.  I could live with that team.  Assuming they get a top five pick this year and the two guard they draft is top notch.

I'm guessing they value Drummond's potential far more than Monroe's, so Drummond's probably off the table for Rondo, but Monroe by himself isn't enough.

From a fixing our payroll perspective, it could be Rondo, Wallace, Bass, for Monroe, Knight, Charlie V (expiring), and Stuckey (expiring).  I could see Danny doing that.

Monroe and Knight as part of the rebuild, Charlie and Stuckey to fix our payroll.

I wouldn't trade Rondo unless we get Drummond in the deal. Monroe is not worth it imo.

LOL that's way too much for Drummond! To me that's too much for DH! Would I give up RR, Bass, first round picks for Cousins? I'm sorry, other than attitude, Drummond is not better than Cousins.

People constantly undersell RR, hopefully DA doesn't!

Drummond or Monroe has to be included in any trade the Pistons would offer for Rondo.

If not, Danny should hang up the phone, if he's the good GM that we think he is.

Knight and an expiring contract. Danny must have been very entertained.

I honestly doubt it ... he probably just smiled, in an "Are you kidding me?!?" sort of way.

I agree 100%. does Dumars think DA is stupid?

Dumars thought that Darko was a #2 pick.  I'm perfectly willing to believe Dumars will legitimately mis-estimate someone's abilities.

It probably is too much for Drummond but it's the only way Detroit would part with him.  Bass has no future with this team and a future pick will hopefully be late first round if this draft goes well.  So really it's Rondo for Drummond straight up.  Drummond is so young and, As I mentioned, they need a shot blocking, rebounding center to put with Olynyk and Sully.

That's how negotiations are initiated. Low ball offers and asking for the moon. Meet in the middle somewhere.

yep, there is low ball though, and then there is downright offensive. The latter would kill most negotiations from the start.

Late first round picks and second is what was suggested, meaning multiple picks. Bass is not just some throw in player as everyone suggests, he is an excellent backup PF for any team, whether you like him or not. He does not make more than his worth and his contract years aren't too many. I don't know what people expect MORE from Bass given his pay and play. Then it's like people are saying late first round picks are just throw in too, well, Danny has picked really good players with late picks! RR straight up for Drummond is already a stretch, to me, it's not a horrible deal but I'm still looking for something more from Detroit.

Either way it's sliced RR, Bass, picks for Drummond is way too much.

Also, Danny, please don't trade RR. It's not about me not wanting RR traded, I would be fine if he's traded even though I don't want it, I just don't want it to be an overpay on our end... why would we? It's not as if RR is some average player who is forcing his way out. Yes, RR is injured but he was playing on that same knee while it was still messed up b4 surgery, I have no doubt that he is working hard and will be the same player when its said and done. He did also only have a partial tear so it's not the same situation as Rose. I'd rather let RR show he can be the same player and wait to build more trade value if we HAVE to trade him.

I have nothing against Bass but with Sully and Olynyk the Celtics don't need him so they are not losing anything.  If the team is good it can spare future picks, especially as it has picked up so many of them recently.  To me it's not about Value, it's about getting the player you want.  I always felt the same way with the draft.  Giving up Bass and future picks doesn't take away from your team so use them to get the guy you want.

As far as Rondo for Drummond, As much as I love Rondo, with the team where it is right now and the fact that in general I value Bigs over Smalls (assuming close talent level) I think it's a good move.

If you rather have Rondo on the team then Drummond then this trade makes no sense no matter who or what you throw in.  At this point in time, I rather have Drummond.

Rondo, Wallace and Lee
Drummond, Knight, Stuckey and Charlie V

Celtics get significant salary relief, plus young talents
Pistons get top 3 PG, and solidify a better starting 5
Rondo, Lee, Wallace, JSmoove, Monroe

After contracts expire, celtics have cap space plus core of
Knight, Bradley, Green, Sully/Olynyk, Drummond

Can't stop, Rondo!
