I'm sorry but the Fab Melo bust line started last year and as the season went on and Fab could not get out of the D league it continued to get longer.

Fab is fine.  He played solid in the summer league.

He played solid?  Not in the summer league I watched.  Olynyk and Pressey were able to get him a bunny here and there but for the most part he was awful.

Can someone tell me how Fab was able to produce such monster stat lines like he did in the D-league and yet look completely inferior in the summer league this year?

I don't want to give up on him just yet considering what he was able to do last year in the D-league albeit inconsistently, however his performance in Orlando really has me torn.

Can you call something that's already been known for awhile?

I'm in the 'be patient with Fab' camp, but I can't say I'm pleased with his progress.  He doesn't seem like basketball is coming any easier to him now than it did when we drafted him last year.

Fab looks good.  He has confidence issues like Bradley did.  The more he plays, the better he will get.  It's not realistic to expect him to be a polished player right now.  He's a work in progress.

It's not possible for late first round bigs to be "busts". The odds are against them ever making a rotation from the very beginning. Only top 10 picks can "bust". Skita is a bust. Darko is a bust. Fab is a project big man in his second year. There's no comparison

You see things from him at times that gives you hope. And then 20 seconds later he does some thing that make you completely loose it.

Its almost like he needs to stop playing for 6 month and work on his body. Become more athletic. He's really thick. He needs to learn how to jump quick. He needs to get his core strong so he can use it to jump up quick and snap the ball threw the hoop.

They need to do hand eye drills with him. And while doing all of this, no playing ball. Watching yes, watch tape, watch Duncan and Shaq. Duck tape his eyes open tie him to a chair and make him watch video.

I don't think he ever was tough how to move. He does get to his spots on D well most of the time. Has a decent jump hook and can shoot FT pretty well, Nice form at least.

He played pretty decent in the last game. But I'd give him this season and see were he's at. Unless some one else wants to take on the headache, I wouldn't be too upset.

Too late. About half the blog called this the night he was drafted.  ;) ;D
At this point the bold call would be to say he wasn't a bust.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I know Danny chose Fab for his potential but man I was so angry when we didnt take Ezeli. I know he went 30 but at least he can be a serviceable center and is right now for Golden State

Realistic projections on a project like Fab to be rotation-ready were what, 3-5 years?  It is possible that he'll never have it, but in fairness it would have been unreasonable to expect that he would be ready for an NBA rotation in Year 2.

What exactly would be reasonable to expect from Fab after one D-League season?  Where should he be by now if he were on track for 3-5 year project development?

Agree.

His timing is just bad right now like when he went up against Krastow (is the name right?) - he attempted to block him but was instead posterized and when he attempted to 2-hand slamdunk on the guy he got blocked. On both cases though, the positive is that he challenged the big guy. He had some confidence in going up one-on-one against opposing bigs.

I wonder how Dwight developed such a well-contoured/sculpted body from a skinny guy on draft night to the "superman body" he is now. Can we find somebody who could help out Fab to build up on his body and learn how to make the "elbow" moves that Dwight developed through the years?

People are so quick to find his faults, they don't notice the positives.  He's an easy target.

1.  His lower body looks great.  Legs look strong.

2.  His upper body is lean.  He's lost a lot of unnecessary muscle in his upper body, but he needs to put on some good muscle in his arms.  That will help him hold on to rebounds and finish.

3.  Fab's passing looks real good.  He's a very good passer already.

4.  His defensive rotations, and talking are much better.

5.  His picks are much better.  They still have to improve, but he's much better.

6.  His hook shot is coming along nicely.  With his length that will be effective in any level.

7.  He's not a liability at the line.  The form on his jumper looks nice and he plays very unselfish not looking for his offense at all.

8.  His game is completely tied to his confidence.  As he gets more confident he will become more productive.

It's called steroids.  Let's not be naive.  LeBron is probably on them too if we're being real.  Humans don't look like that.
