It's reportedly a two year deal, so why do you guys assume he's just a camp invite? Because you know nothing about him? Kind of how a lot of people on here assumed immediately that Stevens was a cheap fill in hired just to tank next year?
Because we've signed multiple players in the past on two-year deals that aren't guaranteed past training camp.

You don't know anything, because there's nothing to know. He's a 25-year-old nobody from the Spanish league, who has never averaged 10 ppg or 5 rpg in his 5-year pro career.

He averaged 14.9 ppg and 6.4 rpg in 2010-2011 for Murcia.

Guys who might play 20mpg in Europe may be NBA-ready, so I wouldn't place too much emphasis on per game stats in evaluating players from overseas.
No, he averaged 6 pts and 4 rebounds in 15 ppg that year. Don't know where you're getting your stats from.

Well, Terrence Williams, Shavlik Randolph, DJ White and Sean Williams all got "two year" deals. I'm in the camp that wouldn't be surprised either if he stuck or not, but I think it's wrong to think he will simply because he may get a two year, non-guaranteed deal.

It's also wrong to assumes he sucks because you never heard of him before. Same goes for the poster who insinuates that reports are in accurate if they are from foreign press. Like Woj has never been wrong before or something ::)

Maintaining skepticism until it gets reported by Wojo.

If this does happen, though, it pretty much guarantees there's some kind of move coming from Ainge.

We have way too many forwards and marginal centers on the roster at the moment, especially if this signing happens.

Olynyk / Bass / Humphries
Sullinger / Iverson / Faverani? / Melo

Not to mention Shav Randolph, and even Gerald Wallace, who plays at the 4 sometimes.

I imagine one, and maybe both, of Bass and Humphries will be traded.

And if they sign "Fav" I'd guess that'll be the end of "Shav", though "Fab" will probably survive.

edit: Oh, whoops, that's for 09-10. DX doesn't have stats for 10-11, interesting.

Perhaps, but this is quite evidently not a consideration.

Is he going to be the new starting center?

It looks like he has good size. Legit 6-11. Nice and beefy. Can throw his weight around in the paint. He might be the best option on the C's roster to start at center.

Eurobasket.com says he averaged 14.9 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 22 minutes, while shooting 64% from the field and 79$ on free throws in 34 games for Murcia in 2010-2011.

The ratio of inaccurate -- or just plain made up -- reports from foreign-language outlets I've never heard of to inaccurate reports from Adrian Wojnarowski, the most respected reporter of NBA moves out there, is, to say the least, quite lopsided.

Can we all at least agree to believe reports that he worked out for the Spurs a few days ago?

The Knicks and Wizards have also been reported as being interested in Faverani.

It looks like that was in Spain's second division. Murcia did win the league that year and get promoted. Faverani was an their All-League 1st team. So he must have been a major contributor for them. A leader.

His stats this year where the 4th best team in Spain. Looks more like a role player. 8th on team in terms of minutes played.

I think he is being brought in to start. Options in free agency suck. Nobody appropriate available. Take a flyer on this foreign guy. See how it goes.
