Well we didn't get Gigi, but we are in the process of signing Vitor Faverani 6'11 from Spain who played for the Brazilian National Team.

Rumors: Vitor Faverani to Boston? po.st/gOAydV

Sources have confirmed to TUBASKET.com that the deal is almost done and Vitor Faverani will sign with the Boston Celtics.

There are still some details to deal with but the general agreement is there: a two-year contract with one more optional season.

Hm. Don't know anything about him and didn't see ANY signings coming. Cool though. Hope it's not just to mentor Fab, that's looking more and more like a lost cause.

Maintaining skepticism until it gets reported by Wojo.

If this does happen, though, it pretty much guarantees there's some kind of move coming from Ainge.

We have way too many forwards and marginal centers on the roster at the moment, especially if this signing happens.

Olynyk / Bass / Humphries
Sullinger / Iverson / Faverani? / Melo

Not to mention Shav Randolph, and even Gerald Wallace, who plays at the 4 sometimes.

You don't know anything, because there's nothing to know. He's a 25-year-old nobody from the Spanish league, who has never averaged 10 ppg or 5 rpg in his 5-year pro career.

Strictly a warm camp body. Can also be a favor for an agent -- it has happened before that NBA teams would sign players for the headlines, then cut them first day of camp (Boyko Mladenov to Sacramento in 2003 comes to mind).

Here's a better clip of his skill set if you can get past the music.

On second thought I deleted that video. Youtube him if you want to see more clips. There's only a few.

Looks like he's very a polished, back to the basket banger that can go with either hand.  Good pick up.

Well that explains that. Figured we had enough bodies for camp, though. Maybe too many as is? Given our current center depth, wouldn't be surprised if he stuck around for the year.

This makes no sense unless Danny has seen enough of Fab. I can't believe he feels shaky about Colt. I just watched the game...Colt's got game. Fab....less so. Fab doesn't need a mentor he needs another employer. IMHO

See edit to my post. He likely won't be on the roster in the preseason.

He looks fat. And Europeans need to step up their highlight mix games.

It's reportedly a two year deal, so why do you guys assume he's just a camp invite? Because you know nothing about him? Kind of how a lot of people on here assumed immediately that Stevens was a cheap fill in hired just to tank next year?

Well, Terrence Williams, Shavlik Randolph, DJ White and Sean Williams all got "two year" deals. I'm in the camp that wouldn't be surprised either if he stuck or not, but I think it's wrong to think he will simply because he may get a two year, non-guaranteed deal.

He averaged 14.9 ppg and 6.4 rpg in 2010-2011 for Murcia.

Guys who might play 20mpg in Europe may be NBA-ready, so I wouldn't place too much emphasis on per game stats in evaluating players from overseas.
