Wow... I'm as big a fan of the Celts as there is, but, I'm done with Rondo.
We cannot rebuild around and him win a title, because he's becoming more injury prone, has been in decline since 2008-2010, and will start to physically decline. We can't even win with him as our 3rd option, unless we get a prime KG and James for #1 and #2.
His on ball defense was awful last year. On offense he gets a lot of assists because he holds the ball a lot. Did any of you notice the Celts played much better when Barbosa took over? Rondo can't shoot outside of 12', his unrebounded misses are turnovers. He doesn't drive as much anymore because he gets pounded - too bad that's a plus.
The rebounding argument doesn't yield much, he's only about 1.5 rebounds/36 above the average guard, and one way he gets O glass is that he doesn't go back on D like he is supposed to but fights for rebounds. Laudable when he gets them and scores, not so much when the other team gets an easy bucket because he didn't get back.
If you factor everything the past 3 seasons on average, he's been outside of the top 10 PG's league wide.
He's not elite, we need to deal him and move forward.
