If you are Houston, wouldn't you rather have Rondo at 12.5 million per year for two years, then Smith for 4 years at 16 million per?  Boston could pick up two nice young assets for Rondo in the process (and the team could still tank).

I have been expecting this as well and it has come up in other threads.  Forget the salaries, isn't a Rondo, Harden, Howard core better than a Smith, Harden, Howard core?

I would think Houston would be willing to make a strong push to get Rondo.  To your question, I say no to this version and try to get them to take back Bass and add Chandler or another piece.

US!

Not enough for Rondo.

If you're Houston that's a no brainer but I think it'd be a real bad trade for us.

Horrific for Boston.

Lin is terrible and has a terrible contract. Asik is okay but also is overpaid. Rondo is a stud on a great deal.

So you want to trade a 3 time all-star and building block for 2 role players on long term deals ?

Who says no? Danny, that's who!

Hopefully everyone. Rondo is worth so much more. But then again...I guess we need to come up with new ways to rid the team of Rondo since Reke and Big Al are off the market.

Boston says no. An immediate no interest. Not worthy of further consideration.

I think that would be a terrible deal for the Celtics. Asik and Lin are not guys you want to build around. I don't think Houston thinks they can get Rondo for that price, but they know Smith is probably walking for nothing so they're targeting him. Patrick Beverly looked really solid last season, they're probably happy to go with him as their starter.

If that trade goes through though Atlanta will have an abundance of high quality front court  players, maybe they'd be interested in upgrading over Teague with Rondo.

Send them Rondo and Humprhies for Horford, Lin and Schroeder?

Boston roster:

Horford/Olynyk/Melo/Iverson
Sullinger/Bass
Green/Wallace/Bogans
Bradley/Brooks/Lee/Crawford
Lin/Schroeder

Atlanta starting lineup:

Asik
Millsap
Korver
Williams
Rondo

They can then try to find a sign and trade partner for Teague (Pacers maybe? Bring in Danny Granger to play SF in front of Korver and that is a deadly lineup).

Horford is a guy I'd like to build around. Schroeder is supposedly a young German Rondo and Lin is a solid starter until Schroeder develops. Just a thought off the top of my head. Doubt it would be realistic.

First, I didn't say Boston should build around Lin or Asik, I said they were assets, which they are.  They are young players with 2 years left on their contracts.  They are easily movable at any time.

Second, I don't know where this notion that Lin is terrible came from.  In his third year, he averaged 13.4 p, 6.1 a, 3 r per game with respectable outside shooting for a PG.  I mean he isn't Rondo, but he is far from terrible.

Third, double double centers don't grow on trees.  They aren't easy to come by.  Asik is a double double center and while he isn't young, he did just finish his third year so he will only get better.

This would be a pretty solid trade for Boston.  Two good solid young assets for a PG coming off of a torn ACL is a pretty solid trade.

My head would explode if Danny did that trade, just awful for us. Why are we trying to help Houston?

Me. I would say no.

Your post title is Rondo for Lin + Asik who says no

Simple question with your post being simple too. Now you give a bullet point rebuttal to folks who disagree because it sounds ridiculous. I skipped responding because there was another post with almost the exact same thing IN the title of the post just below your own which you woulda' saw if you had looked. It certainly woulda' fit in there. I respond now because you apparently didn't see the other post. You should check the forums before making virtually duplicate posts of other currently active posts.
