And with the 1st pick in the 2014 draft, the Los Angeles Lakers select....

Yup. Lakers are fully joint the tank party and they are going to be AWFUL

With Philly starting to tank at the draft, something I don't believe has ever happened before in any sport, the Lakers are going to be hard pressed to suck their way into Wiggins.  I mean, they'd basically need to add no one of any value this offseason and then trade Gasol for peanuts to get in the running.

And convince Kobe to not play or not try his hardest to win every game.  That'd be the toughest sell of all, especially with the clock running down so fast on Nash too.  Kobe will want to make a go of it no matter what the payoff of tanking is.

Agreed. I don't see Kobe or Steve Nash or even MWP mailing in games, regardless of what the front office is angling for.

I thought the Lakers moved their 2014 draft pick in the Nash trade, but it was 2015. That really would've been the icing on the cake.

if LeBron signs with LA after next season---it will have worked out perfectly for them.

Were they really banking on him coming back?

I dont know how sign and trades work but could they have signed him and traded him to HOU for something or can he just walk as a FA?

Either way lol at LA
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

If Lebron goes anywhere other than Miami after next season, it will be to join Kyrie Irving in Cleveland. I don't see the lakers as even being in consideration. Kobe and Nash will be retired by then and likely so will Gasol, and they have no young talent.

cry the Lakers a river.....

I hope they never win another banner

Kobe is never gonna be Kobe again,   impossible, old and injured , but they talk on the lakers threads, how Kobe will led them to more banners.......they are in denial totally,   he ain't scoring 50 points ever again in the NBA.....and his hero one leg fling out of bounds threes with 2 seconds on the clock game winners is DONE.....

Pau ....is on the back side of career with ruff knees......

CP3 signed with next door neighbors,

lakers  number 2 team in town now....... he hee hee

Metta ......old and slow and stupid.  eating cap space

Nash ...is frail as a 90 year old lady , if they touch him he breaks.  eating more space

Earl...traded

Howard .....walked  ;D

still at near max cap levels

almost no draft picks

horrible coach

Phil is Not coming to their rescue. without a young major superstar BIG

Kobe will never be great again, average maybe 1 or 2 years if they are lucky, and his salary is killing them by the day.  still has stupid size salary for a 35 year old

non father Buss to save them,  only his poor stupid son to screw them up
Good luck.  .....they deserve all this

Jeanie ain't gonna save them either or her old creepy husband Jackson

And with the 1st pick in the 2014 draft, the Los Angeles Lakers select....

Not to mention the cap space to sign Lebron James and his cronies from My Hammy with Pat the Rat Riley.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

Lakers truly need to dump Kobe , to free up salary space ,  he and Paul are not worth any where the money they stand to make.

here is a team that truly would be wise to totally tank

Bron , won't go to LA at this stage in this career ,  he doesn't need to,  and Riley will take care of his needs.   LA  might get him in 4 years as he starts on his backslide years .

LA ain't getting Curry, Love, George or Hibbert either......their fans are DREAMing ,   without DH, or a great coach , aren't sucking the small market teams dry this year.

The Lakers will have a ton of cap room this summer, where a number of quality FAs (LeBron, Wade, Melo, Bosh,) could be on the market if they opt out of their deals.

Having cap room, (The lakers have only one year of Nash at $9.7m on their books for next year) the big spending Lakers could also take on a big deal or two while sending back something as nominal as a 2nd round pick.

It could be a quick rebuild if LeBron decides he wants to take his talents to the West Coast.  I don't see the Lakers losing enough games to get into the Wiggins sweepstakes.

While it was good to see LA get nothing for Howard, I kind of wanted him to resign and continue to deal with Kobe and the headache of LA.

Let say DH resigned with LA. Does anyone thing that team is anymore than an 8th seed in the West? No Kobe for most of the year and an aging cast to go along side a damaged goods DH.

Now LA probably has the best chance to get the top pick. The Cs will be bad but not as bad as LA. Losing out to DH might have been the best thing for the Lakers.

Wow.

Biggest chip on the market and the Lakers have no picks, tradeable assets nothing...nada.

The writing was on the wall but they didn't wanna see it.
This is one of the biggest G.M./Ownership FAILs I have witnessed.

same thing could have happened to us with KG and PP. Maybe some here are awake now and have come to their senses.
That will be the day!

Stern still has influence this year until Feb, he will do what he can to help them.   Last order give them Wiggins, I bet.

I think it's funny for years the Lakers have paoched other teams guys and got away with it.   This time it backfired in their face.
