One has to wonder what direction Dallas is headed in right now. Obviously they're not tanking, but they're not in position to win anything this season, either. With Dwight gone, there aren't really any high-caliber FAs they can get who will really make an impact, and while there's always the trade route, Dallas doesn't have many assets.

Better than Collison, but not enough of an improvement to do much.

If I was Dallas I would have waited on this to see if Nash became available. The shorter contract at roughly the same money/talent makes more sense for their rather small window.

Decent signing but Dallas seems to be a 7-8 seed at best imo.

the only way this makes sense IMO is if DAL thinks that LAL after losing Howard decides to clear the decks and will move P. Gasol for a 1st rounder or something.

Calderon is a solid point guard, and that signing won't break the bank.  It's a good deal, with or without Gasol (whom the Lakers should totally be unloading, but that's another story).

Meanwhile, I can only hope that Joe Dumars will finally devote an entire season to developing Brandon Knight as PG of the Pistons.

I am biased, of course.

Calderon is underrated PG.

to each his own, but:

- Calderon is 31 y.o.
- DET was something like 8-20 with Calderon (.287 vs. .377 w/o him).
- the BEST Toronto did with him as their starter? 41-41 in '07-08

My point i guess is he's a nice player, but I don't think a team led by him can ever be sucessful b/c of his awful defense. Even when TOR had him, Bosh, Garbajosa, etc. I never worried about them b/c I knew Rondo would SHRED him.

Depend where this player is. If Chalmers plays for Pistons, will have the same stats for him? And how about Calderon playing for HEAT? :)
