I don't get this Tank fascination. Boston wants to rebuild around something and this something is RR and JG along with Sully and Bradley. If you goal is to have nobody but wiggins or parker in boston, how long to you think you are going to wait until you get an established team who can have a solid shot at the title?
You keep RR and you can compete in 2 years. You get rid of him and you'll have to wait like OKC (IF you are lucky at the draft).
If you love tanking just be a fan of Charlotte or okc or new orleans... but here we are not tanking, we are rebuilding. Yes we might get a top10 pick next year but we won't be the bobcats this season.

the NBA Draft Lottery is Crooked (Why else would they Switch the Balls, after the Test Drawing-?)....so, NO WAY would I trade Rondo and Green for a "Shot" at a Top pick---we have ZERO chance of getting.

If we were guaranteed a top 5 and a top 10, I probably would. I've said repeatedly I'd prefer to build around Green and Sullinger, therefore I would prefer to move Rondo and Bradley, but this draft looks too good to pass up.

Sometimes it is easier to just restart than rebuild.

So you'd rather build around an underwhelming wing and a solid rebounder with serious back concerns than a franchise point guard and a defensive ace? Okay.

It's not foolish if you land a top 5 pick out of it.
Rondo and Green are not franchise players. They'll be 29 after 2 seasons with our draft picks if we get any. Rondo has had one ACL tear, his rough and tumble style is only going to increase as he carries more of the load. jeff Green is a nice 3rd option but he's probably never becoming an all star.

For a 2014 rookie to have an immediate impact or an all star level impact after 2 years is very rare.
Rondo and green wil be pushing 30 with about 4 seasons of their prime left ...and that's if they don't suffer any more major injuries.

We need scoring, these two are great, but for gods sake some people are saying they wouldn't give up either Rondo or Green on their own?
It's almost laughable how deluded we can be as fans sometimes.
Danny would POUNCE all over a rondo for top 5 pick or a Green for top 10 pick.
They are not franchise players.

I agree that Green is best suited for a 3rd option. I disagree that Rondo is not a franchise player. He is absolutely a franchise PG in the league. I can only name 3 or 4 guys I'd take ahead of him at that position.

Furthermore, like I already said, we already have a great shot at landing one high lottery pick in 2014. Trading a proven star just to get another one to convert into a POSSIBLE star isn't worth IMO, especially considering Rondo's beneficial impact to young players.

I voted No Way!

What's the point of going young if you don't keep your young?  Yep, I consider JG and RR young players.  Just entering their peak production years.  I say, put really good young talented pieces around them - through this draft and next- and lets go and see what we've got.

I think every player in the top 5 of the 2014 draft probably has more trade value than Rajon Rondo.

Ya'll realize that Draftexpress currently has Jabari Parker projected #6?  Some people think Jabari Parker is going to be a phenom.

If not the players, then certainly the draft picks themselves.

do not trade Green! Should get some worthwhile trades or picks for Rondo. Keep his minutes down, trade him before the deadline.

The only way to trade for a top 5 or top 10 pick is at the end of the season.  If you trade now, you make the other team better, and the pick is out of the lottery.  No way someone offers us a top 5 pick for Rondo at the end of the season.  Everyone wants a shot at the next Jordan or Lebron.

If we really wanted to tank, which I think is a bad idea, then you trade Rondo and Green  for a bunch of expiring contracts for cap space next year and even more draft picks, but the bad teams will all be keeping their picks.  Only good teams will want Rondo or Green.

I still laugh every time I hear the phrase "build around Jeff Green". He's a 3rd option at best for a contending team and you're in big trouble if you're building around a No.3 guy. Build around Rondo makes sense. But please, Jeff Green is a complementary piece, not a building block.

So where do we find this "number 1 option"?

The only way to trade for a top 5 or top 10 pick is at the end of the season.

The best way to trade for a top 5 pick is to get an unprotected pick years ahead of time.

That works too, if you are lucky.  The point is we have no way of guarantee we are trading for a top  or 10 pick at this point in the season, especially when a good player can make the other team better.
