Precisely.  Great point.

I remember danny saying, after trading 'Toine, that he knew he needed "more pieces" to make anything happen.  So he traded 'Toine for "pieces."

We have all kinds of pieces, and we got them in one deal:

Unprotected 1sts.

Right to swap picks in 2017.

Big expiring contract of useful veteran role player in Humphries.

Crash, a veteran F defender and great body to throw at Lebron/Carmelo types.  He's a useful, but expensive, player.  We should probably play him next year behind Green.

Young scorer in Brooks, veteran wing in Bogans, both useful trade pieces or on the floor.

Not such a bad haul after all for the old guys.  Combined with our own picks, the Clips pick, Bradley and Sully, he might have the pieces to pull off the blockbuster right now.

ya, i think we wont be able to fully evaluate danny's trade until about 3 years from now...if Pierce/Garnett are retired and danny as used those pieces to either draft a star or snag one via a blockbuster trade.

hes doing what he did back in 06...develop pieces, collect picks...the next move is going to be to move those for top tier talent IMO

no matter what danny says, there has to be another move in the pipeline...our roster makes no sense.

we have 3 powerforwards who could start...sully,bass,humphries...paying 2 starting SF's 10million$ each and have about 6 shooting guards

DA has already said there are going to be more moves made...

I don't see why Charlotte would give up a 1st in a Humphries-Gordon swap. A second, maybe.

Could we make a different deal to get the rights to swap picks?

...meh, probably not.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Right.

He can call Portland and ask what they're looking for if they'd move Aldrige, and he'd probably have it in the cupboard:

4 extra 1sts, young prospect in Sully or Bradley, expiring contract [Humphries] OR useful player [Crash] to match salary...

Expect Danny to call on every star that is available this summer.

And next...

We'll have to give up 2 1sts to do that. At least.

Humphries will be a valuable asset this season, most likely at the deadline. He probably won't net us a 2014 1st rounder but he is an expiring $12M contract that averaged 14/11 (and 10/10 in 2010-11). That is valuable.

Not to mention he's going to be playing for his next paycheck this season.

Charlotte would probably be willing to give you Tyrus Thomas straight up for Kris Humphries.

There is no way Humpheries expiring contract is being traded , unless we are getting Kevin Love or Aldridge type. If you can combine Humpheries with picks for a player on that level, then by all means do it.

But....

Danny is not trading him just because we have a log jam at pf. Any team that wants him is going to be because of his expiring contract, meaning the c's have to take long term salary back . No way Danny is doing that as we are trying to rebuild .

Bass is much more likely to be traded IMO.
How about Humpheries and Bass for Pau Gasol? <gd&r>

No real point unless a really bad team wants to give up a good 1st for cap freedom.

Let him expire.

Look into buyouts.

He doesnt have to this year and will be more value to trade next year. Id worry about getting rid of wallace now most and i like humphries game. At least he has legit pf size and rebounding ability than bass. Its not bad to have a guy like that on the team.
