  • Everyone's excited for the new era.
if rondo is traded i want the other team taking gerald wallace contract. and i want a young center in return as well as unprotected 1st.

WE ARE TALKING ABOUT TRADING  TOP 3 POINT GAURD HERE.
PG's with more trade value than Rondo:

Paul
Irving
Westbrook
Parker
Curry
Rose
Williams

Maybe more value include:
Holiday
Lillard
Wall
Rubio

So no, Rondo is NOT a top three PG in terms of value.

If that's really the case, then Danny would be a complete dunce to trade him.  Just a year ago Rondo was a top 15 player in the league.

If he's really depreciated that much, you have to keep him and take the chance that he can build his value back up to close to or (with much hope) even better than it was before his knee injury.

I think there's a difference between talent and value.  For instance, Tony Parker is a much better PG than Kyrie Irving is, but if Cleveland called the Spurs and offered to swap the two, San Antonio says yes, no questions asked.

In my opinion, Rondo (when healthy) is the third best PG in the league (behind CP3 and a healthy Derrick Rose).

My point is that while Rondo is better than most PGs, he might not have as much value as they do (for reasons such as health, age, contract, etc.).

Fair enough, but if you think he has the talent to be a top three point guard, but currently is about tenth or so in trade value among point guards, then it wouldn't make sense to trade him.

That's my point.

I'm not saying we should trade Rondo and I think his trade value among PGs is above tenth.

It sounds like we are in agreement.

I was always an advocate of trading Rondo, and still am obviously.

I just think the League won't even allow us to, fearing it will look like blatant tanking if we do, even if we were able to get a kid with potential, an expiring, and a pick.

I'm pretty sure he is staying put, which assuming he plays 60+ games, should keep us away from the very bottom of the standings, unfortunately.

One man's opinion, but Rubio is at #22 while Rondo is at #36.

In that same list he has Williams behind Rondo. Who you said has more value.

I think this list was compiled after he went down?

Correct. There's no way Bill Simmons ranks him that low if we're talking about a healthy Rondo. Bill Simmons is a big Rondo supporter and he's been maintaining to keep Rondo throughout our big roster overhaul.

Nope. He posted it in April, Rondo went down in January.

I didn't use the list to make my original post.  But yeah, I think Williams has more value than Romdo.  My only reason for posting the link was to show that Rubio over rondo isn't an lol moment.

Because Bill Simmons says so?  That carries as much weight as any opinion that one of us has.  The only difference is that more people read his opinions.

I think you both had lol moments honestly. Rubio's a young point guard who can't shoot, finish at the rim or rebound, with little athleticism coming of an ACL injury. He's like a young Rondo with only two of the things (defense + passing) that made young Rondo a hot prospect.

wouldnt trade rondo for anything less than a superstar.

Why not? Rondo himself is not a superstar. Superstar means franchise player. Rondo is not a franchise player.
