I would say that the people who are actually going to watch the games are the ones that care about how good Gerald Wallace is.
As illustrated in another CB thread a few days ago--it's much easier to embrace tanking when you're not going to watch the games, or have the option to turn off TV or change the channel. It gets harder when you're the fans in the stands.
Can you imagine what its like for the Bobcats fans, having to deal with an empty arena or an arena full of fans of the visiting team? That's not the reason most people go to see their team play, and it's a large part of the (valid bits of) resistance to rebuilding/tanking.
Hopefully, I'll actually be able to afford Celtics tickets. Unfortunately, I'll never have been in a situation to see our new Big 3 in the flesh. Try as I might, I just can't get super stoked to spend money to go see 48 minutes of Kelly Olynyk, but I'm much more excited about the possibility of a Crash throwback.
True. From a popularity standpoint this is a stinker.
My post was from a franchise future standpoint. Honestly, Wallace hustles like crazy and would be a better watch than, say, Tyrus Thomas or Darko Milicic or pre-2012 Blatch. Plus, perhaps Wallace just isn't cut for the spotlight. In a nothing-to-lose, stakes-free environment like this, perhaps he'll shine hard enough to make himself trade-able (after all, the Nets took Joe Johnson upon their inception. Stranger things have happened).
However, I'd get my rush watching the kids (AB, Sully, Olynyk...maybe Fab...maybe even JG (wowza if he develops like the extreme optimists hope)) grow.
I reckon you'd be watching JG?
Speaking of Green, hopefully they don't stunt his development. He's good at the 3. Play Gerald Wallace at the 2 or something.
We'll suck but it doesn't mean we won't be entertaining, I guess.
