Quote
Brett Brown has been an assistant for the past seven seasons under Spurs coach Gregg Popovich. Before a promotion to the bench, Brown had been the Spurs' player development coach for five years.

With the Spurs' loss of assistant coach Mike Budenholzer to the Atlanta Hawks' head-coaching job, Brown has been expected to be promoted to the top assistant's job under Popovich.

Brown was the Australian national coach and led the Aussies to a strong showing in the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

He coached in the Australian National Basketball League for 14 seasons. In nine seasons as a head coach, he won 149 games – the sixth most in league history.

Brown played his college basketball at Boston University under Rick Pitino.

If he helped develop some of their younger players that speaks for itself, bring him on over.

Can't say I know much about him but if he has spent time under Gregg Popovich learning how to coach I'm already sold.

Any chance we can get a coach that we've actually heard of before?

Why not just run back this amazing Brett as our next coach?

I'd much rather have an unheard of assistant than a name re-tread.  If Ainge hires someone we haven't heard of, then he's got to be convinced the guy can actually coach the game.

You guys honestly think that a big-name coach is going to oversee a rebuilding process?

Not only that, but just because a coach is known doesn't mean he's the right fit. Look at Frank Vogel, I'm sure plenty of people scoffed with his hiring and now what do the masses think of him?

Regardless of whether we are rebuilding or competitive, I would just personally prefer a respected coach I am familiar with. Also, other than Doc leaving, I have yet to see any evidence that the Celts are rebuilding.

If/when I see Pierce, KG and/or Rondo dealt, I'll believe it. Til then, we are the Boston Celtics, a competitive NBA team which should be going for a league high 18th ring.
