who?  :o

Lol. This just in, Gary Washburn of the Globe thinks that Ferris Buehler will be the next coach.

You guys honestly think that a big-name coach is going to oversee a rebuilding process?

Regardless of whether we are rebuilding or competitive, I would just personally prefer a respected coach I am familiar with. Also, other than Doc leaving, I have yet to see any evidence that the Celts are rebuilding.

If/when I see Pierce, KG and/or Rondo dealt, I'll believe it. Til then, we are the Boston Celtics, a competitive NBA team which should be going for a league high 18th ring.

Ainge, said the idea of a rebuild, while daunting for a team that's been a contender for much of the past six seasons, is an exciting phase for him.

"I've been geared up for it and I'm ready," Ainge said. "I'm anxious to go through the process. We don't know when that's going to happen, if that's going to happen this summer, or if that's going to happen next summer. We've been ready. We've been gearing up for that possibility."

Get ready. It's coming.

EDIT: Hahahahahaha TP.  Also I don't think I've ever seen that dude's picture - looks like a long-lost Kids in the Hall character.

Never heard of the guy but if he's been working under Pop for 12 years I'm sure he knows his stuff.  And he'll probably work cheap.

At this point, if we're rebuilding, we need a coach that grows with the team.

Any chance we can get a coach that we've actually heard of before?

Why?

There aren't even many great options (or hey, they would have been hired) and definitely not for a rebuilding team, if your idea is to somehow talk a "coach that we've actually heard of before" in.

Did you know about Spolestra before he coached the Heat?  Did you know who Vogel was?  Did you know who Thibs was before he became an assistant for us? Why not take a shot on one of these guys?  Maybe he works out and we find a diamond, and he doesn't?  We look elsewhere.

Hiring a coach proficient in development is also a smart thing.

Arguably the worst Celtics starting center in franchise history.  :)

Wouldn't mind taking the chance on a Pops assistant over some of the retreads floating out there.

It's starting to become clear this team is transitioning to rebuild/reload over win now

Don't know much about the guy which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Well, Ainge does say in that quote that he doesn't know whether he's rebuilding this summer or next.

That tells me there's still a very good chance the band is coming back together.

Also, let's not forget that we heard ALOT of chatter earlier this year during the trade deadline, and none of it came to fruition.
