Why Phoenix would do it: Gortat and Phoenix management are clearly not meshing and it'd be best for both parties to part ways. Bradley obviously has plenty of potential and would be a dynamic complement to Dragic in the backcourt. Phoenix already has a plethora of PFs, but all of them are wildly inconsistent, and it would be nice for them to always have a constant they can turn to in Bass.
Why Phoenix wouldn't do it: Realistically speaking, the above "pro" for getting Bass is wildly overmatched by the "con", which is a rebuilding team paying $6M/yr for a 28-year old rotational big. Is Bradley enough for Phoenix to take Bass as well?
Why Boston would do it: Let's face it. We haven't been graced with a skilled center in his prime for a very long time. Gortat is a nightly double-double threat who can protect the rim, and would absolutely wreak havoc on the PnR game with Rondo. He's 29 years old already, but his game is based off finesse moreso than athleticism. Lastly, from a financial standpoint, in a league where Deandre Jordan's make over $10M a year, it's an absolute steal to be paying Gortat slightly over $7M.
Why Boston wouldn't do it: Gortat will be playing out the last year of his contract next year. Bradley is already a pretty steep price to pay already. Are we better off with him sticking around in Boston? Could he be used for a better, more enticing trade? With these things considered, why give him up for someone who might put on green for only one season? Granted, for multiple reasons I could actually see Gortat staying in Boston beyond next year should we happen to trade for him.
What do y'all think about this trade idea?
