Why Phoenix would do it: Gortat and Phoenix management are clearly not meshing and it'd be best for both parties to part ways. Bradley obviously has plenty of potential and would be a dynamic complement to Dragic in the backcourt. Phoenix already has a plethora of PFs, but all of them are wildly inconsistent, and it would be nice for them to always have a constant they can turn to in Bass.

Why Phoenix wouldn't do it: Realistically speaking, the above "pro" for getting Bass is wildly overmatched by the "con", which is a rebuilding team paying $6M/yr for a 28-year old rotational big. Is Bradley enough for Phoenix to take Bass as well?

Why Boston would do it: Let's face it. We haven't been graced with a skilled center in his prime for a very long time. Gortat is a nightly double-double threat who can protect the rim, and would absolutely wreak havoc on the PnR game with Rondo. He's 29 years old already, but his game is based off finesse moreso than athleticism. Lastly, from a financial standpoint, in a league where Deandre Jordan's make over $10M a year, it's an absolute steal to be paying Gortat slightly over $7M.

Why Boston wouldn't do it: Gortat will be playing out the last year of his contract next year. Bradley is already a pretty steep price to pay already. Are we better off with him sticking around in Boston? Could he be used for a better, more enticing trade? With these things considered, why give him up for someone who might put on green for only one season? Granted, for multiple reasons I could actually see Gortat staying in Boston beyond next year should we happen to trade for him.

What do y'all think about this trade idea?

I would only do this.  If we can also grab Josh Smith and replace Bradley with a SG with perimeter skills then that's going to be a pretty good line up.

Bass + 16 + J-Craw could work.

I can also see Utah moving Big Al/Milsap for 16.

I would love to have Gortat, have wanted on this team for a while.

That would be great if Phoenix took in #16 and Crawford instead of Bradley. Also, I'd rather see Ainge use a possible Pierce trade exception on Millsap or Big Al (though preferably Millsap) rather than Josh Smith.

If we could get Dudley too that'd be great!
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

I would have done this trade a a year or two ago, when we still had hopes of being contenders.

Now that we're going into rebuilding mode for a while, I think I'd rather keep Bass and Bradley.  Gortat is a player who can make a good team even better, but I don't think he's good enough that you can build around him.  Just my opinion.

that would be a downgrade, gortat sucks and is slower than deandre jordan and evry other center danny has his eyes on.

While I'm against this trade, Gortat doesn't suck.  Not even close.  There's also more to being a good center than being fast.  How fast is Hibbert?  Marc Gasol?  Duncan?

Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes.

But only, if we are running it back with KG and Paul. This makes no sense if we are rebuilding as Kane is right, his age doesn't fit.

Gortat is 29.

Bradley 23.

No thanks.

Gortat offers more than what Avery can do, regardless of age, and we get rid of Bass' contract as Gortat is expiring. He'll be another expiring along with Paul and KG if he retires, more money to spend on FA's next season, all the while he gives us a big boost in our interior defense, rebounding and inside scoring to some extent.

Do it, if we keep our vets that is.

Yeah. We don't even have one center. There is no "downgrade".

I don't get the logic of getting rid of a young player with value (Bradley) for an expiring. Bass' contract isn't bad enough to do that.

If we trade Bradley, it if for someone we will keep around for a few years, not for a rental.
